| Personal History | Ensign Bertrim Wysocki was born on June 2, 2371 on Deep Space 11 to parents Commander Leala Wysocki and Lieutenant Commander Ewan Neilsen. He has an older step-sister Lieutenant Christine Nielsen from his father’s previous relationship. His parents divorced when he was four years old. His father was reassigned to the Alpha Quadrant prior to the breakout of the Dominion War and was killed in the Battle of Betazed in 2374. Due to the ongoing armed conflict between the Dominion War and the Federation Alliance his mother had made arrangements for Bertrim to stay with her friend on New Bajor in 2373. Unfortunately New Bajor was hit by a Jem’Hadar attack killing everyone in the settlement. She would make arrangements for Bertrim to be minded on Bajor. The two maintained frequent communication, although Bertrim felt it difficult being part from his mother and often acted out while in their care. Following the conclusion of the Dominion War, Bertrim and his mother were reunited on Deep Space 11. The two of them celebrated her promotion to Executive Officer onboard the USS Sagitta. The Sagitta was assigned to a humanitarian armada to bring goodwill to the Gamma Quadrant. Once a Starfleet Academy Campus opened in the Gamma Quadrant, Wysocki knew he wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps and join Starfleet. During his Orientation he would be given the nickname ‘Socks’ due to his last name and it stuck. |
