By the time we'd arrived at Nestene IX, Commander Kos and the remainder of the Away Team, had already escaped custody of the Syndicate. With Richard's help, along with the reluctant leader of the Syndicate, we were able to evacuate the remainder of the Golden Stars from the planet. It took us a few weeks, but we were able to relocate the Golden Stars, those who wanted to anyway, to a remote location where they could continue their lives.

As much as it still pains me, I have granted Petty Officer Carter a discharge so that she could resume her life with her family. I never agreed with her reasoning, but I can recall what I once did many years ago on Betazed when I had to take matters into my own hands.

It has been more than five months now since we began this journey, and I'm pleased to say I have all of the answers I was seeking. The answers themselves were far from pleasant, but at least this great mystery has been solved.

We're on route to Deep Space 11 for repairs. Lieutenant Dicon has performed a fine job doing what he can, and I commend his and his team's performance. I think the crew is ready for a break. I know I am.

But, I have this feeling that we're just getting started. Something is out there, waiting... lurking in the shadows. Why do I feel like the darkness is getting darker?
