Chief Medical Officer's Log-

Yeah, I'm never going to get used to that.

I'm on my fifth cup of coffee, looking over this roster. The U.S.S. Black Hawk-the ship I've been assigned to-has an impressive crew roster. Not sure what Starfleet is expecting of us, but at least we've got people with quality. Any Captain who used to be in my field is at least going to be easy to work with. According to the logs, they're caught up on their vaccinations, so that's one less thing to worry about. But the manifest is going to put me through my medical paces.

We've got an Antican. He's huge, according to the records, but I don't know much about their medicine. Might pick up a veterinary journal or two, if I'm not alright with the bits of Antican medicine I can get my hands on. There's a Bolian running the fighters; Not sure how his bite is, but Bolians know how to bark, in my experience. Also, got a few Betazed-Hybrids hang around. One's another doctor in my Sick Bay. He's mousey, but he's got potential.

But there's one more person in Sick Bay; The nurse. And she could be an issue, considering she's very much a Cardassian.

I can look at her. I can do that much. Talk to her, too. I don't see the monsters who enslaved my people, kept us down for years. I don't see the beasts who drove us from our world, and made us the beggar race of the stars. But I still see a Cardassian. Dunno if I can work with her, or not. Until I meet her myself, I won't know for sure. I'll say a prayer or two, before bed. Maybe the Prophets will give me the clarity I can't give myself.

Still, why would they start now?

Computer, end log.
