1,001 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Interlude
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: January 14, 2390 || 1000 hours

It had been day in and day out for one Senior Chief Yeoman in the Administration office and despite seeing the Captain regularly for his morning brief and stack of PADDs he inevitably threw into disarray as soon as she handed them to him. She had a feeling it was to drive her mad or simply because he felt that her categorization wasn't what he needed, but she did her job as best she could.

Now the hour had come for Alpha Shift to turn things over to Beta and the Captain's Yeoman grabbed a PADD she had prepared for the Captain and headed to the bridge. A glance around revealed the Captain wasn't in the center seat, so she headed to the Ready Room in hopes of catching him before he left for whatever plans him and Joey had made and tapped the chime.

The door parted almost immediately, revealing the Captain behind his desk. Today, his desk was more organized than usual, with a somewhat haphazard stack of padds on the edge of the desk (the designated out pile, and a typical scattered deployment of four others in front of him. His desktop terminal was active, but the holographic screen was not in privacy mode.

"Ah, Mila," Harvey said with a warm smile. "Come on in."

The Russian smiled just as warmly and entered the ready room. "Harvey," she said. "I am having itinerary you are wanting. You are to be leaving ship, da?" She eyed the PADDS but noticed they weren't as chaotic as usual and was able to suppress a twitch.

"Only for a few days," Harvey replied, gesturing for her to have a seat if she wanted it. "Joey and I are going to spend some time on Yolvanda II. Figured it's time to give our resident pleasure planet a new shake."

A few days, bah," Mila grumbled, but sweetly. "Here, you are needing much more than few days." She handed him the PADD from across the desk before taking a seat.

Harvey accepted the padd and replied before looking at it, "That doesn't include the transit time. Warp Four in a runabout takes about five days to and from to get there."

The PADD included a list of possible places to go, including Yolvanda II as well as replicator codes for certain things to spice things up, and activities that involve the outdoors as well like hiking, underwater tours, and a list of attractions. "You are being Captain. Get big ship to take you there."

"The big ship needs repairs." Harvey began to skim through the padd to see what Mila had prepared, raising a couple eyebrows at a few of the items as they scrolled by. "Not to mention security sweeps and upgrades."

"You are being Captain with experience," Mila pointed out. "Commandeer one." As if it were just that simple.

Harvey lowered the padd for a moment and smirked. "So, you're saying I should commandeer a random ship, get to Yolvanda II at maximum warp, and spend less time away from the Black Hawk?"

"Da!" she said happily. "Nyet...not random ship. Get fastest ship. Black Hawk will be in dry dock and not needing you."

If only it were that simple... "To be honest, I'm looking forward to the quiet ride," Harvey told Mila. "The Zambezi's spacious enough that we'll have some good family time and rest before arriving at the resort. Once we get there, it'll be maximum warp."

"Nyet, runabout is bad. That runabout is being worse. I will talk to colleague at station and be getting get you both booked on ship heading that way," Mila said. "I am being owed several favors." And when she puts her mind to something and calls in favors, she usually gets what she wants.

Harvey chuckled and looked back down at the padd she brought. "All right then. But we're leaving this afternoon. You think you can find something before then?"

"Da," the Yeoman said confidently and thought for a second to see who owed her what and how much each was worth. "Da. Is possible. Be giving me two hours?"

The Captain nodded appropriately. "Do it in less, and I'll toss in some Saurian brandy."

"I am being Yeoman, not Engineer," Mila said in a tone that sounded very much like a renowned Starfleet doctor. "Of course I can be doing this."

Harvey smiled. "You certainly are talented, Mila. There are times I wonder if I deserve a yeoman of your caliber."

"You will not be getting rid of me, either," she told him in a tone that brooked no argument. "I am being where I am belonging. Now be letting me get this set up while you see to that Saurian brandy."

He rose from the desk and walked over to the couch in a nonchalant manner. He lifted one of the cushions to reveal a hidden compartment. Harvey tapped a couple buttons to unlock the compartment, and pulled out a sealed bottle of the brandy. As soon as he let go of the cushion, the compartment slowly closed with the cushion not far behind.

"Someone is being very sneaky, I am seeing," Mila said with a laugh. "Next time, I will be looking in fish tank. Now for me to work equally fast material. If I am having your permission?"

Harvey chuckled, recalling the padd he'd once hidden in the fish tank. "By all means," Harvey stated. "Unless there's anything else you're needing to discuss."

"Nyet, but consider fourth on list," she said with a wink as she came to her feet. "I will be seeing you when you are returning. Give love to Joey and twins and be having fun." With a pivot, she turned and headed off.

Harvey returned to the desk, picked up the padd, and scrolled to the item she had mentioned, only to blush when he read it. He chuckled and set the padd down. "Mila, Mila, Mila..." he muttered.
