It was great to be back on the Black Hawk again for multiple reasons. First and foremost, she got to see her huge fiancé, Lucas Abrams, and second, it got her the hell away from Captain Holmes. The man was infuriating and every time the Black Knights had landed on 'his' flight decks, they had to scramble for another mission. She felt like she had been wearing her flight suit for a week and couldn't wait to get out of it and toss it in the recycler.
Once she was in the quarters she shared with the mountain of a man, she stretched and began to strip without even looking around. "Water. Hot. Need." Each word was followed by an article of clothing.
Lucas leaned against the wall with a soft grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. He’d been quiet when she walked in—not for stealth, just admiration. Watching her shake off the weight of her time away with every step was like watching a storm finally pass.
He moved toward her, taking her face in his hands and dropping a kiss to her lips. "It's good to have you home," he said simply, voice low and calm, then stepped toward her her discarded clothes. "You really do make this suit look good," he teased, tossing it into the recycler with practiced ease. "Come on. The shower is seconds away."
The lithe redhead nearly purred when he kissed her and gave a happy sigh as she looked up at him. "You, Mr. Abrams, are my hero and have said something magical." She smiled and headed that way, a little pep in her step now that she was home and all was well. "The Flight Deck is fixed. We're home to roost!"
"That's great news," the big guy said, heading to their bedroom. "I know Holmes can be an ass, but now you don't have to worry about him anymore. It's definitely good to have you back."
"They call him Grahamhole behind his back," Aurila laughed as she turned the refresher on and selected the water option instead of the sonic shower. She adjusted it, tehn stepped in under the spray, her long red hair plastering to her body. "How have things been here? I really missed you."
"Busy, but I imagine that's been everywhere," he answered as he grabbed her some clean clothes. "As for Grahamhole, I can definitely see that. And for the record, I missed you, too."
Aurilia gave a brilliant smile as she began to soap up and groaned at the simple pleasure. "I never thought I'd be glad to be out of a cockpit. Even the refresher is bigger."
Lucas walked into the bathroom with her clothes and set them down. "With luck, you won't need to go back."
"I really hope not," she said as she luxuriated under the hot water and scrubbed herself clean.
"Are you hungry?" He asked. "I can run to Talon's and grab us something."
Aurilia rinsed off and took another long moment under the water before she turned it off and grabbed a towel. "I can go with you, Lucas. It'll be good to actually walk and stretch my legs on solid footing again."
Lucas smiled. He couldn't think of a better way to celebrate her homecoming. "That sounds better than my idea. We can come back here, watch a movie, then see where the rest of the evening takes us. What do you think?"
"Whatever doesn't involve flying," she said as she began to get dressed. She pulled her hair up in a messy bun and tied the blue blouse under her small breasts, leaving her midriff exposed, then pulled the hip hugging low rider jeans up.
Lucas gave an appreciative whistle when he saw what she pulled on. It wasn't what he'd grabbed for her, but that was because when he got her a nightshirt, there were no plans to go out. "You look incredible, beautiful," he said.
"thank you," Aurilia said with a hint of a blush on her cheeks. "I wasn't sure if you'd let me go out like this." She gave a spin for him. "Hair up or down?"
"Why wouldn't I let you go out in that? You're beautiful, and my fianceé. I am a very proud man," he said with a smile. "As for your hair, do whichever makes you feel best."
She gave him a big, bright smile and moved over to wrap her arms around him as much as she could. "I love you, Lucas," she said as she looked up at him.
Lucas smiled as he slipped his own arms around her. "I love you, too, Red," he said, lowering his lips to hers once more.
Aurilia returned the kiss with a smile. "Tall, rugged, handsome, an amazing doctor, a great kisser...how did I get so lucky?"
"I'm the lucky one," the big man said, giving her a smile of his own.
"Let's go eat," she said as she took his hand. "I'm starving."
"We can't have that. Just let me get my shoes on, then we can be on our way," he said, moving to grab his boots. Once they were on his feet, he stood back up and offered her his arm. "Shall we, my love? A, hopefully, quiet evening awaits us."
Aurilia quickly slipped a pair of kitten heel sandals on to make her look a tiny bit taller next to the giant man she loved, then took his hand. "We shall."
Even with heels, the big guy still towered over her just as he did everyone else on board the ship. There was a time Lucas was self conscious of his height, but those days were long gone. He embraced it now, and only struggled when he needed to fit in places like a Jeffries tube. "What do you feel like tonight?"
"Something cheesy and bad for me. I want you to look at me when I order it and schedule the procedure to clear my arteries of all the bad stuff I'm going to shove in my mouth," she told him.
Lucas laughed. "Nachos sound pretty good if I'm being honest. So does a cheeseburger with onion rings. Maybe I'll have both. I'm a growing boy, after all."
"Nachos it is," the redhead said with a smile. "Lots of them. Fully loaded and dripping with cheese. And a huge chocolate milkshake."
"You can have everything you want, Red. You know I won't judge," he said just before he escorted her out of their quarters.
"Even if it's bad for me?" she asked as she looked up at him.
Lucas smiled and dropped a kiss to the top of her head. "Even then. We're all allowed to chest once in a while, and I plan to do that myself."
"I love you," Aurilia said with a smile.
"I love you, too, and I think we should start considering when we want to make things officially official," he said.
"Well ,we are at New Risa," the redhead said with a hint of a smile.
Lucas smiled. "Soon, then? Maybe we can get our families out here so they can enjoy such a special occasion with us."
"It would be nice, but that's a long trip from Earth and I don't know if they can make it all the way out here," Aurilia said.
"You're right. In which case, we can do the initial ceremony just for us," he offered. "Then, when we're closer to home, make arrangements to do something with our families."
"We could wait until shore leave, if we ever get that again," she offered as a counter.
Lucas looked thoughtful. There were so many things that seemed to be in question, except his love for her. Still, nothing changed the fact that he did want to marry her. "We could, but as you said, we don't know when that might happen," he said, wondering how they'd made it to Talon's so quickly. The saying was true... time did fly when one was having fun. "Maybe we could have the Commodore marry us on the ship, then do it again when things are more certain?"
Aurilia smiled. "Well, doing it on the planet would be nicer, but I'd be happy as long as I was with you." She looked up at the sign that announced they were at Talon's. "Ready for good bad food?"
"I am, but I'm more ready for the company."
She melted against his side and wrapped an arm around his waist. "You, my huge sweet talking mountain of a man , may have all of my company that you wish."
Lucas wrapped his arm around her and held her close as they made their way inside. "I like it when you threaten me with a good time, Red."
Aurilia laughed and walked in with him. "Consider yourself duly threatened, then. Booth or counter?"
"A booth. You've been gone. I don't want to share you with others just yet," the big guy admitted with a smile.
She smiled and headed over to a booth and slid in so he could sit on the aisle side and stretch his long legs. "You'll never have to share me with anyone, ever."
Lucas slid in beside her. "You won't have to share me, either. Except with a kitten. We should definitely look into adopting one as soon as we're able to."
"A kitten?" Aurilia looked at him, surprised. "As in a living, tiny furry creature native to Earth?"
"Yes," he confirmed. "Why do you look so surprised?"
"Well, the fact that we're a very long way from Earth would making getting one of them very hard," she pointed out.
"I figured that it would be, but it's something we can consider for the future. We'll get back that way one day. It's just going to take a little time to do so," he stated as a waitress approached them. "Ladies first."
Aurilia looked up and smiled. "I'll have a double cheesy nachos with extra peppers, and a chocolate shake, please."
Their waitress added that to the padd in her hand, then looked to Lucas. "How about you?"
"I'm going to have a beer, whatever's on tap is find, and a double order of nachos with extra cheese and jalapenos on the side. I'll also have a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. That's it."
"You got it. I'll have you drinks out shortly," she said, adding his food to the ticket, then made her way back to the kitchen.
"I might have to steal some of your onion rings," the redhead said with a smile as she looked at him. "I forgot to order some."
"You can have as many of them as you want," he said with a smile of his own.
"I could order more when she comes back, too," Aurilia said before leaning up to give him a kiss.
Lucas returned the kiss. "You know I don't mind sharing, beautiful. You can have as much as you want."
She smiled. "I love you and I will forever."
"I love you, too, Red, but forever doesn't seem long enough."
"No, it doesn't," Aurilia said with a smile and knew she would spend the rest of her life with him.
