Camila arrived at the Security office after contacting the Chief Medical Officer and announced her presence to the personnel at the front desk. "I'm here to see Commander del Rosario," she said.
Roget could see through the window in his office door that Lieutenant Di Pasquale had entered the security anteroom. He signaled the crewman at the desk to send the Assistant Security Chief in.
"What can I do for you," he asked after she'd entered his office.
"I'm here to put myself on report, Commander," Camila said, her voice formal.
"What for Lieutenant?" del Rosario asked. He hadn't heard of any misbehavior by the new assistant chief.
"Violation of the chain of command, Sir," she said. "Captain O'Connell gave me information and instead of coming to you, I took it directly to the Captain."
He considered the brown-eyed woman. "What information?"
"Captain O'Connell said that the convoys that had been fired upon have weapons in their cargo holds hidden among the supplies, Sir," Camila told him, repeating what she had told the Captain.
"Very well," Roget said dismissively. He studied Di Pasquale. In her short time aboard, she'd proven herself to be a very capable officer. "With Kos in custody, I'll be spending more time on non-security related matters. I trust you continue to manage the security staff without less direct oversight from me."
"Yes, Sir," she said, a little confused. She had came there to put herself on report, but the Commander didn't seem inclined to berate or right her up.
"Did O'Connell say anything else of note?"
"Nothing worth noting, Commander," Camila said. "Other than the fact that it was her belief that the convoys were compromised and carrying more than medical supplies. She asked me to pass it on to Captain Geisler and I admit that I bypassed the proper chain of command. I felt it was important."
"So you said," he responded. "If there's nothing else..."
"No, Sir," Camila said. "Thank you, Commander. I'll be attending to duty now, Sir." With that, she turned and left his office to begin working on the duty roster.
