Elisha smiled as she walked down the halls of the hotel with Xavier. Dinner with her brother had gone well. She was thrilled that he liked Xavi and that Xavi liked Joel. She felt that if they had more time, the two might actually become very good friends.
And that would make things very weird. Well, maybe not weird, but certainly different. Not many girls dated their brother's friends.
"I'm glad you and Joel got on so well," she said. "I was worried he might be really protective."
Xavier smiled as he walked beside of her holding her hand. "I think he was more relaxed because I'm in Security," he said. "He seems like a really nice guy."
"He is," said Elisha. "He's pretty laid back, too, but usually, he likes to frighten guys off. Or maybe it's just that the wrong sort are usually attracted to me."
"I'm just glad that you were able to relax when he was teasing you," he said. "Does he do that a lot?"
"Almost constantly since I can remember," she said. "I don't mind, really. It's his way of showing love. If he likes you, he teases you. Did you notice he started razzing you by the end of dinner?"
"Si, but I can dish it out as well as take it," Xavier said. "He needs to meet my Abuela for lessons on how to razz people properly. She's in her eighth decade and acts like she's in her twenties and will give anyone a run for their money when it comes to ripping on people."
Elisha giggled. "I want to meet her now," she said as they arrived at her door. "Do you want to come in for a bit?" she asked. "I mean, not-not for anything, j-just... you know..." She shrugged.
He smiled. "I'd like that," he said. "And I promise I'll just sit like a statue since it's not for anything." he gave her a wink and grin.
She grinned and pressed her thumb to the keyplate next to the door. The doors swished open and she led him inside. "I wish I had something here to offer you," she said. "Well, I mean, there's a replicator, but who uses a replicator on vacation? Oh, there's mints!" she said, spotting the mints laying on the pillows.
Xavier looked over at the pillows and back at her "Do you really want us to get so close to bed?" he asked her a mischievous smile.
She grinned mischievously. "I've already been in your bed," she pointed out.
"Yes, but this is your bed," he pointed out.
"Technically it isn't," she said. "It's the hotel's."
"Which you occupy while you're here," Xavier said.
"It sounds like you don't want to come over here with me," she said, taking one of the mints off the pillow and flopping onto the bed.
"Well, when you say it like that, how can I refuse?" he asked as he went and took the other mint, removed his shoes and sat down on the bed next to her.
Elisha popped her mint into her mouth and curled up next to Xavi. "That's what I thought," she said. "Mmm, you smell good."
Xavier smiled and opened his mint, but offered it to her instead. "It is nothing special," he said as he moved his other arm around her shoulders. "But I'm glad you like it." He inhaled the scent of her hair and smiled. "You smell like wild flowers."
Elisha grinned and gestured for him to eat the mint. "It's my shampoo," she said. "It's made with jasmine, lavender, and lilac extracts. You smell like smoke and pine needles."
He smiled and popped the mint in his mouth. "Smoke and pine needles? That makes me sound like an arsonist who has a vendetta against pine trees."
She giggled again. "It's nice," she said. "Like a campsite in a pine forest."
"It's called Mezquite y Pino," Xavier told her as he nuzzled her neck. "Hmm...what kind of body wash do you use? Something smells intoxicating."
She immediately started giggling again and it took her awhile to get it under control. "My body wash is unscented," she said, still giggling. "But, I do wear Mojito scented deodorant." And she was off giggling again.
"Whatever it is, it smells really good," Xavier said before he kissed her neck softly.
"You're sweet," she said, snuggling closer to him and draping one arm across his stomach. "Mmm, I could stay like this all night."
He smiled and leaned in to give her a kiss. "Like this?" he asked softly.
She smiled up at him and nuzzled his neck. "Yeah," she said.
Xavier wanted to do more; he wanted to do a lot more, but he reminded himself that she was a very nervous young woman and skittish and repressed his other desires. "Then we do not have to go anywhere else tonight at all, mi Querida."
"Good," sighed Elisha, already starting to doze off.
With that, he reached for the covers and gently pulled them up and settled down beside of her to sleep as well. "Good night, mi Querida," he said softly.
"Good night, Xavi," she replied.
