Mission:
Crossing Over
Location: TBD
Timeline: MD 35 || 2030 Hours
Once Mila had her memories back and had been assured that Aidan was getting his back in Medical, she went to her quarters and began to put it back to rights. She was so grateful to Joey for taking care of Chow in the chaos of coming through the Zone and then dealing with the boards and made sure that the little Capuchin had a double helping of yogurt, two bowls of pistachios and a large bunch of grapes. She got him settled down, then tapped her combadge.
=^=Rasputin to Joey. Are you being busy?=^= she asked.
Joey sat in Intel, pinching the bridge of her nose. She was beyond exhausted and wanting nothing more to be in bed, but that wasn't possible right now. There was so much going through her mind, but she was able to find a few minutes to check on her people. Only one of them, aside from herself, had their memories restored, while others were still waiting. She felt bad for them, but they'd be back to normal in no time. What could be classified as normal right now... she had no idea.
She watched the new scan crawling along slower than a snail's pace when she heard Mila's voice. Joey didn't realize how much she'd missed it. =^=A bit, but I always have time for you and a few others. What's up?=^=
=^=I was wondering if you have eaten yet?=^= Mila asked as she went to her replicator and sorted through various dishes.
=^=I haven't, but nothing is really appealing to me right now. I do need to send Harvey something for dinner, though. What's your location, and I'll meet you there.=^= the taller woman replied.
=^=I am being in my quarters=^= came the response. =^= And you are needing to be eating for babies.=^=
=^=I'll be there shortly. Joey out.=^= she said, tapping her combadge, then rose to her feet after securing everything with her authorization codes, then doing the same once she left the complex. If anyone needed to get inside, they would have to contact her directly, unless they were a member of the Command team, which comprised of two people. With that done, it didn't take long before she was standing outside of Mila's door and ringing the chime.
Mila answered the chime manually and moved forward to give her sestra a hug. "Please be coming in," she said after kissing the taller woman's cheeks.
Joey smiled and returned the hug, then pressed a kiss to the shorter woman's cheek. "How are you feeling after everything?"
The Russian woman stepped aside so Joey could enter and Chow gave a happy creel when he saw his second favorite human. "Shook up," she admitted. "But not hurt. How are you to be holding up? I am hearing rumors that you are one leading battle from bridge earlier."
"I'm good," Joey replied as she made her way inside and smiled at Chow. Even if he was a huge pervert, she loved that little monkey. "I can't really complain, and those aren't rumors. It was me with the hep of an Engineer, the Assistant Chief of Security and a nurse at the helm. As scary as it was, we came out fairly victorious." And she didn't want to talk about it anymore, so subject change was necessary. "You mentioned something about food?"
Chow took one of his bowls of pistachios and scampered over to Joey and offered them to her with a series of pops and creels.
Mila laughed at Chow as she closed the door. "I am being very impressed and proud of you, Joey," she said. "A nurse was being at helm?" she blinked. "Well, I am glad she did not cause ship to have more boo-boos. Come, come. You are to be telling me about it while you eat. What are you being hungry for?"
"There's not much to tell, really," the taller woman said as she scooped Chow up and nuzzled his little face. "I don't know what I feel like eating. Maybe a bowl of cereal."
"Cereal?" the shorter woman asked with an arched eyebrow as Chow nestled against Joey. "Nyet. What are you thinking of fried eggs with kielbasa and dill on top? Or maybe porridge with strawberry jam?"
"Um... I don't think either of those sound too appealing to me right now, but it's not from nausea. I feel pretty good all things considered," Joey commented, hugging the little Capuchin to her. "How about chicken pot pie?"
"Are you wanting standard pot pie or Kurnik?" Mila asked as she went to the replicator. "Kurnik is being made very thick and rich. Like regular pot pie, but for big eaters like Russians."
"Normal works. With extra chicken, please," she answered as she cuddled Chow, offering him a pistachio from his bowl. "I think Harvey might like one of those, too."
"Computer, I am requesting two chicken pot pies, Federation standard, with extra chicken," the Russian said. Chow happily took the nut and chewed on it while he nestled back against her. "What are you wanting to drink?"
"Tea, please," she replied, offering Chow another pistachio. Joey couldn't seem to help herself, she'd bonded with the little guy. "He seemed to handle himself okay without his memory, but he did slap the Chief Engineer, so keep an eye out there."
"He what?!" Mila asked in shock as she spun around. Chow heard the sound of her voice and scrambled over Joey's shoulder to peek through her hair.
Joey shook her head and brought a finger up to run the tiny simian's face. "Don't be upset with him. We were in sickbay at the time, and it was extremely stressful to begin with. Lieutenant Hawthorn came in out of nowhere... or a Jeffries tube in this case... and made things a bit more stressful. My little friend here only did what I'm sure a few of us wanted to do," she clarified, passing another nut over to him. "Don't be upset with him. He doesn't deserve that."
"I am just being shocked," the other woman said as she finished getting the tea, a herb for Joey and a black tea for herself with currant jam. "He is not normally like that, but as you are saying, he was not being himself." She handed Joey her cup and gestured to the couch after she collected the pot pies. "Please, be having seat. You are having busy day."
She didn't need to be told twice, so Joey settled down on the couch with Chow. "Busy, eventful, exhausting... and I can still put more words to it. Harvey's going to be on the bridge all night and requested I go home and relax. I'm not going to argue."
Mila settled down next to her and offered one of the pot pies and utensils. "Chow, be leaving her alone to eat," she said and the little monkey gave a hoot and jumped up on the back of the couch to settle down. "So how are you liking your first shot at big chair?" she asked.
Joey accepted the pot pie and fork from Mila, then looked thoughtful for a moment. "That depends. Are you talking about my time as Acting CO, or when I quite literally vomited in the center chair?"
"You vomited...in Harvey's chair?" the Russian asked and tried to decide if she was amused or disgusted. "Nyet. Not the vomit, but acting Captain."
"Yes, I did, and that's not something I really want to delve into further while I'm trying to eat," the taller woman stated as she looked down at the pot pie she was currently holding. Now, it seemed a little less appealing than it once had, and left her wondering if she'd even be able to eat it now. "As for my role as Acting CO, it was a bit on the nerve-wracking side. I've been in the position before, but not when there was an active battle going on. To be honest, it's got me thinking about taking Command courses, but if that does ever come to fruition, it won't be for a while. I've got a lot of changes coming soon enough, and I don't want to add anymore to it."
"Da, two very important changes," Mila agreed as she cut through the crust on her pot pie and stirred it around before she took a bite. After she chewed and swallowed, she took a sip of tea. "Be having some tea. Is herbal and calming for stomach and nerves," she said. "You are needing both. As for Command, is being a very stressful and lonely job being at the top. I have served several Captains and all are going grey before their time."
"My stomach is fine right now," Joey assured her. "And that's what concerns me with Harvey. All I can do is make sure his home life is as stress free as possible."
"He is being tough nut to crack and I am not knowing what to do," the Yeoman admitted. "So all I can be doing is simply doing my best to be doing my job to ensure he is getting all the information he is needing."
"He's had a lot on his plate lately, and now I know what's been eating at him. However, it's not my place to say what that thing is. If, and when, he's ready for others to know, he'll let them know," the taller brunette said, taking another bite of her food. Joey chewed and swallowed, then spoke again. "All any of us can do is support him and let him know we'll be there for him when he needs us to be."
Frustration crawled up Mila's spine when she heard what her sestra said, but simply nodded. "is what I have been doing," she commented. "You are being his wife and having right to know such things."
It didn't take a genius to know that Mila was a little perturbed by the fact that Joey wasn't going to divulge any information to her. In fact, she'd feel the same way if those tables were turned, but this was something meant entirely for her husband to tell. "If it makes you feel any better, he didn't exactly tell me. I came across it completely by accident."
"Is being all good," the short brunette said after taking another bite of her pot pie. "When he is being ready, he will be ready. If he is not, I am treating him no differently."
"I pulled wife privilege a couple times to get some things done for him," Joey said, taking a sip of her tea as she took a peek in Chow's direction before turning her attention back to Mila. "He needed meds for a migraine as a result of the memory restoration treatment, so I called down to sickbay and had them send someone up. He returned the favor by saying he wanted me to take it easy. So, technically, I'm supposed to be back at home."
"I am glad you are getting him what he is needing," Mila resplied. "As for being home...you are with me and are just sitting and talking. There is being no stress, so he is not to be worried."
Joey smiled. "Exactly, but there's still some things I need to do back in Intel when I'm done here."
The Russian shook her head. "Nyet. You are being department head. They are to be coming to you."
"If only it were that easy," the taller woman said with a shake of her head. "As of right now, it's just me and one other member of Intel that have their memories in tact, and I can't let everything rest solely on his shoulders"
Mila was quiet for a moment. She was in much the same boat in Administration and then shook her head. "You are being right," she said. "But do not rush yourself."
"You wouldn't be asking that of me if you knew what I had to deal with," the taller woman sighed.
"That is where you are being wrong, Sestra," the Yeoman said. "I am having all of Administration to deal with and only three personnel who are having memories. I still have not even had time to see Aidan. He is not having his memories back yet last I am checking."
"Nothing is ever easy, is it?" the Intel Chief found herself asking, though she wasn't really expecting an answer. She already knew it. And now with the thoughts she had... she understood why her husband did what he did even more now.
"No, it is not," Mila responded. "Is even harder when you are not having all the information you are needing, or are being blocked." She gave a shrug and finished her pot pie. "Is life."
"Trust me, I know," Joey said, giving a shake of her head. She needed to finish her food and get back to Intel. What Harvey and Mila didn't know wouldn't hurt them. A trip home wasn't entirely out of the question, though. She'd need to get Rico and Pequeno. There was no way she'd leave the two canines alone after what happened earlier in the day. And they'd be able to help her out when it came to keeping a watchful eye on things.
The short brunette gave Joey a sly glance. "Do not be forgetting that computer can track anyone on ship and tell where they are being," she said, knowing how her sestra could be.
"I'm well aware," Joey said, taking the last bite of her food before she finished off her tea, then brought it all back to the recycler. "And why should it matter where I am as long as I'm resting?"
"Working is not resting," Mila replied. "Please, you are being pregnant. They are not needing stress, either."
Could Joey trust Mila? She felt that she could, but she didn't want to go into any details. If there was some kind of conspiracy going on, the fewer people that knew about it, the better off they would be. Especially is things got dangerous. "Mila, trust me. I'm not going to be working. I'm going to kick back and read. That's all I can do since the computer still isn't running at maximum efficiency. Just trust me, okay? This is something that needs to be done."
"Just please do not be pushing yourself or I will be sending Chow after you," the short brunette said. At the mention of his name, Chow raised his head, then patted Joey on the head before he settled down again.
"Go ahead," the taller woman said from the place she'd retaken on the couch. "We have a bond now. Notice he hasn't tried to grope me since I've been here, and even tried to share his pistachios with me? It's because I took care of him when he didn't remember anyone else. And I won't push myself." After all, how much pushing could she really do sitting around and watching for anyone that might want to sabotage what was being done a second time?
"Okay," Mila said with a sigh. "But please message me when you are going back to your quarters?"
"When I go back to my quarters, I will message you," Joey promised. And she would, even if that likely wasn't going to be for a while. It wasn't a lie, and she did plan to keep that promise, she just didn't know when she'd actually be going back.
"Then I will be seeing you later," her sestra promised in kind even as she planned on checking up on her every hour.
"Of course, you will," the taller brunette said, picking the little simian up from the back of the couch to cuddle him for a minute before she had to leave. Joey was anxious to get back, but she was doing a hell of a job covering it up.
Mila got up to hug Joey after she took her cup and plate to the recycler. "Until then, relax as much as you are able to."
Joey returned the hug, then passed Chow over to his owner as she nodded her head. "I promise I will," she said, offering the smaller brunette a smile just before she made her way out. Enough time had passed since she was in Intel, but at least no one could get inside without her. After she handled a couple things, she'd be back and on full alert to keep an eye on others.
