Mission: Fractured
Location: Medical
Timeline: MD 1 || 1600 Hours

When Administration had been sorted as much as she was able, Senior Chief Petty Officer left it in the hands of another enlisted and made her way to the quarters she shared with Aidan. When the door opened, her little Capuchin monkey Chow gave a hoot and scrambled over to her. She noticed that he seemed a bit sluggish and she had to admit that she was feeling the same way, but unlike Chow, she knew the reason.

The Russian Yeoman scooped the little simian up into her arms and kissed his furry head, then headed out. "All will be well soon," she assured him and hoped the sound of her voice would be soothing to him as she headed to the turbolift. Once she arrived there, she requested Medical as she stroked her pet and friend, then wondered if Aidan were also heading to Sickbay to be treated.

When she arrived, she saw the place was packed with personnel and despite looking for any sign of the El-Aurian who had won her heart, she couldn't spot him. With a sigh, she tried to find someone who could treat her and the Capuchin who was getting plenty of attention and a few snide remarks about people needing help before an animal. She choose to ignore them, but kept their remarks firmly in her eidetic memory for a later time while she looked for someone to help.

"Okay," Alex said as he finished giving a male Petty Officer Third Class an injection. "That should get you started on the road to recovery. If the burning sensation gets worse, or actual smoke or fire comes out, come right back and I'll give you a stronger medication. Try to be more careful in the future, okay? Those contraceptive shots we give you keep you from impregnating someone. They don't protect against STDs."

"Copy that, Senior," the young man said, blushing furiously and rising to leave. "Will do."

Well, that was not what I was expecting to treat today, Alex thought. He looked over and saw Mila Rasputin and what he assumed was her monkey. He didn't know the Senior Chief Yeoman well, but they were the same rank and he'd seen her in the Goat Locker now and then when he'd stopped in to get away from...basically everyone who wasn't a chief petty officer. They knew each other's first names and exchanged small talk here and there. He smiled at her and waved at her as he walked over.

"Hi, Mila," Alex said. "And hi...Mila's monkey. Are you looking for Aiden or can I help you?"

"Is good to be seeing you again, Alex," Mila said. "But circumstances are being lousy. This is being Chow and I am thinking that we are both needing treatment for radiation sickness. If you are not being too busy?"

"Not too busy at all," Alex said. "Come over here with me and I'll take care of you both. I made sure they replicated a lot of hyronalin so there's plenty to go around. Here we are. Just lay back on the biobed and let Chow sit on your stomach. I can scan you both at the same time."

"He is having records on file," the Russian Yeoman informed him. "So you are knowing what is being correct dose and treatment, but you are knowing since as you are being Medical. Has been very long day, day?" she asked as she sat on the biobed and got Chow settled down. The Capuchin eyed the human and tilted his head, then patted his stomach and gave an exquisite chirruping sound.

"Of course," Alex said. "But his records won't tell me what's going on now. Okay...well...you're right. You've both got a case of radiation poisoning."

Alex reached into a drawer and pulled out an ampule of hyronalin and inserted it into a hypospray. He adjusted the setting on the hypo and injected Mila in the neck. Then he activated the disinfecting function of the sprayer. Glancing at the biobed readings, and, based on those, adjusted the dosage to one appropriate for Chow.

"Mila, can you hold him still for moment, please?" Alex said.

She laid a hand on the simian's head and he settled down. "He is being good boy and has done this before," she told Alex.

"Great," Alex said in a calm voice. "Okay, Chow. This is going to feel weird for a second, and then we'll be done and you'll start to feel better."

Alex let Chow sniff his hand and decide that the he was okay. When Alex felt that Chow thought he was safe, he gave the injection before the Capuchin changed his mind.

"There we go, little guy," The tall corpsman said. "All done. Well, almost. Can the two of you stay put for a few minutes? I just want to make sure the hyronalin is working before I let you go."

"I can be doing that, but I am having favor to be asking of you," Mila said as she settled Chow back in her lap. "Could you please be replicating some pistachios and a small bowl of yogurt?"

Alex smiled. "Sure thing. Be right back."

A few moments later Alex returned, a small bowl of yogurt in one hand, and a small cup of pistachios in the other.

"Um...who gets what?" he asked.

"He does," the Russian brunette said. Chow stood up and gave a little creel and reached out for both bowls.

"Okay," Alex said. "Here you go, little guy."

Chow settled down to dip a pistachio in the yogurt, then popped it in his mouth happily. Mile gave a fond smile and looked at Alex. "I do not wish to be taking much of your time as I am seeing how busy you are being," she said. "But I am thanking you for myself and Chow for the extra you have done for us, Alex."

“All part of the job, Mila,” Alex said. “All part of why I love my job. I’m just glad Starfleet included a little veterinary medicine in my training. Between helping crewmembers’ pets and helping domestic herd animals and other farm animals during aid missions and first contact, it comes in handy."

"Even if you were not having training in such, I would be knowing you to be a good person," Mila said as she got up while Chow continued to eat. "Chow would be letting me know that he was not liking you if you were not."

"Well," Alex said. "Some people, and monkeys, are easy to be nice to. Are you starting to feel better?"

"I am feeling much better," she said and glanced at Chow who was now licking yogurt off his little fingers and appeared to have a mouthful of pistachios. "And it is looking s if Chow is feeling the same."

Alex laughed and gave Chow a pet.

"Glad you're feeling better, little guy," he said. "Well, I should probably get back to work. Great seeing you, Mila. We'll have to grab a cup of coffee when this is all over."

"That is sounding like plan," Mila said as she scooped up Chow and set him on her shoulder. "I will see you then." With a smile, she turned and headed out.
