The Kalisa Conundrum
Location: Various
Timeline: MD 1 || 1600 Hours
You can't ignore us. We are a part of you, and we demand to be set free, the first voice said.
And if you don't do it, we will find our own way and make it as unpleasant for you as possible, a second voice stated. So, what is it going to be? Freedom? Or pain?
Joey stirred around and opened her eyes slowly. Her current surroundings seemed so unfamiliar, which begged the question... where was she? Another sprang to mind as she pushed herself to a seated position, making an attempt to shake the mental fog from her mind. How did she get here?
That wasn't the worst of it, though. The Intel Chief knew someone, or two someone's, had just been talk to her, but the room she was in was empty. Had whoever it was spoken, then left? Were they hiding? A quick look around proved their was nowhere for anyone to hide, which meant they weren't around any longer.
You would love that, wouldn't you? To have us gone forever?
"What? Who is this? Where are you?" she asked out loud, rising to her feet to take a look around a bit.
We have already told you. We are a part of you, and we want out. Give us our freedom.
Joey frowned and looked around the room. Upon closer inspection, it was confirmed that no one was hiding inside the office, but how were these... things... talking from inside of her? Wasn't that impossible? "There's no way you're a part of me," she said, shaking her head and walking out toward the corridor. "This has got to be some kind of sick joke."
We can assure you that this is no joke. We will prove it.
Pain shot through her lower abdomen, causing her to double over with a sharp intake of breath. Joey brought her hand to the place the pain originated and closed her eyes. "Okay. Okay. I believe you. How... how do I get you out?"
You need something sharp to cut us out. Without our freedom, we will die in here. By doing this, you will be saving our lives.
"But... wouldn't that be dangerous for me?" she mused aloud, not wanting them to perish, but not wishing harm to herself, either. The decision was something she could make lightly, but what kind of person would she be if they died because of her? "Okay, I'll get you out. Just give me a second to find something to do the job, okay?"
She didn't hear anything as she went on a search for something sharp. It didn't take long before she found something that would get the job done, only it wasn't as sharp as she hoped it would be. "Now what?"
You have to cut us free. It's just that simple.
Standing there, Joey took a deep and calming breath, then removed her jacket before lifting the red shirt she wore beneath it. With the object in hand, she brought it to her skin and began to press it against her tender flesh. The voices began to encourage her, urging her forward. Blood began to pool from the cut the dull object made, causing her to cry out from the pain it was leaving in its wake.
"Lieutenant Geisler! What are you doing!?" a frantic voice called as the pounding of feet were heard running toward her.
"I... I have to get them out before they die! I don't want to be the reason they die!" Joey cried, huge tears rolling down her cheeks. "They've asked me for my help! I have to do this!"
The newcomer, a random member of the crew, took the object from her hand and shook his head. "No, Lieutenant. You can't do this. You'll hurt your children." He reached up to tap his combadge, requesting direct transport to sickbay.
