Lieutenant Shay Mitchell came to a crisp halt outside the door of Head Counselor Lieutenant T'Mari Rael’s office. Things were quiet, save for the low hum of the overhead lights and the distant murmur of voices from somewhere nearby. She squared her shoulders, exhaled slowly, and cleared her throat—more out of habit than necessity. It was then that she reached up to press the chime on the panel beside the door. Then she stood still, hands clasped behind her back, waiting to be granted entry.
Answering the door T’Mari offered a smile. “Hello Lieutenant, please come in.” She stood to one side to allow Shay entry to the office. “What can I do for you?”
"I'm here at the request of Commander di Pasquale, Lieutenant." Shay replied as she stepped inside the Counselor's office. "Your presence and expertise are requested for an interrogation. I have also been told to see to it that you bring a tricorder as well."
T’Mari gave a curious look, before she walked over to her desk and pulled a tricorder out of a drawer. “Okay I’m intrigued, may I ask who the subject of the interrogation is?”
Shay nodded her head. "Of course," she answered, gesturing for the counselor to head out. Frex wasn't going anywhere, but there was another stop that needed to be made before the made their way to Security. "Lieutenant Frex is being accused of Sabotage." The answer was simple, but straight to the point.
“Frex?”:T’Mari looked surprised. “Very well, lets see what happens.”
Once she'd retrieved Lieutenant Rael, Shay made her way back to Security with the counselor in tow, but they weren't going straight to the interrogation room. They still needed to get Ensigns 01001010 01100001 01100011 01101011, or Jack, and 01001010 01101001 01101100 01101100, or Jill. It still confused her, but she did her best. "Computer, locate Ensign Jack and Ensign Jill."
At the sound of their names, Ensigns Jack and Jill, as they had come to be called by the crew, came around the corner from where Shay was.
Jack looked at her. "You wanted to.."
"...see us, Lieutenant Mitchell?" Jill finished.
Shay shuddered inwardly. That would always be incredibly creepy to her. "Yes," she answered. "Commander di Pasquale wishes us to take part in an interrogation. If you would be so kind as to come with me?"
"We will.." Jack started .
"..comply." Jill finished. The two Bynar looked at each other and communicated on their linked network and the system that controlled the drones on the ship. They set the drones patterns to random and continuous, then waited for Lieutenant Mitchell to lead to way to what they were needed for.
"Thank you," Shay said before she turned on her heel to lead T'Mari, Jack and Jill to the interrogation room where she hoped Camila would be waiting.
"What are..." Jill asked as they followed Shay,
"..we investigating?" Jack asked.
“From what I’ve been told possible sabotage” T’Mari answered in response to Jack and Jill’s query.
Shay gestured for them to follow as she headed for the interrogation room. "Yes. We are investigating the sabotage of three tricobalt devices," she answered, hoping to provide a bit more clarity to the situation. "Commander di Pasquale will have further information for all of us."
"The tricobalts..." Jack started as he followed Shay.
"Were sabotaged?" Jill finished. "We shall..."
"Do our parts..." Jack said.
"It is appreciated," Shay said before she stepped into the interrogation room. "Commander di Pasquale, Lieutenant Rael and Ensigns Jack and Jill as requested."
Camila looked up from a PADD she had been working on. "Thank you for coming, Lieutenant Rael," she said to the Counselor.
"I want you to analyze the mental state of Lieutenant Frex when he arrives and with every question I ask him. I want to know if he's lying, being deceptive, holding something back and if he's even trying to remain calm. Use the tricorder with your abilities and get a baseline reading of him from the Medical computer beforehand."
“Understood” T’Mari nodded as she tapped her tricorder setting it ready for when Frex arrived.
She looked at the two Bynar. She still couldn't tell which was Jack and which was Jill, but they were great at their jobs.
"You two will report to the Armory to complete the investigation into the tricobalt. I want every trace of code investigated byte by byte and analyzed with the full operational power of our allotted resources. I want to know what Lieutenant Frex did, if he did it, how he did it and what else may have been done to them. Go."
The two Bynar acknowledged the Chief in their manner before they turned and headed back to Security.
Shay watched the two Bynar disappear out the door, then looked back to Camila. "Would you like me to stay, Commander?"
Camila turned her attention to Shay. "Yes I want you to observe and question if you feel it's needed."
“To be honest there were a lot of emotions on the bridge during the battle but…” T’Mari paused. “I’ve been sensing odd emotions from some people, Commander Geisler being one of them. Not that I’m saying the Commander has done anything wrong, it could just have been worries over the safety of her children at such a dangerous time.”
Shay looked toward the counselor. "I'm sure you sense odd emotions from people every hour of every day," she stated. "And you said that it happened on the bridge while there was a battle going on amongst an enemy and our entire task group? I'm not trying to discredit your abilities, Lieutenant, but I think the majority of those individuals on the bridge during that time were feeling odd emotions."
"That was then," Camila interrupted them. "This is now. Frex is the one I want the Counselor to focus on. I want you to focus on me, Lieutenant Mitchell. After all, maybe I set Lieutenant Frex up." She gave a warm smile. If the Counselor was paying attention to emotions at all, she would certainly be picking up that that was a lie and a load of bullshit on top of it.
"Understood," Shay answered simply.
“Understood, Frex it is” T’Mari nodded and smiled. As much as she hated doing this, it was a necessary part of her duties.
Camila nodded to the Warden and led Shay and T'Mari into the holding area and interrogation rooms. "Don't answer any of his questions. We're here to question him. Let's do this."
