My Bed or Yours? Part 1

Mission: Outbreak
Location: New Risa
Timeline: MD 4

If the resort was as nice on the inside as it was on the outside, the next two days would be very comfortable. Just as they were walking towards it, Aidan noticed the tranquil waves, soft white powder beach, the turquoise seascape, soaring ocean birds, and lush greenery. A slight shade, provided by the tropical trees that lined the sand-covered walk path, shadowed their heads as they walked to the entrance.

“Well,” commented Aidan, “as they say, it’s nicer than the brochure.” He made a mental note to send a message to his father, thanking him for the rather nice birthday present earlier that year.

Mila walked beside of him with Chow sitting on her shoulder doing the simian version of rubbernecking. Every time something caught him attention, he would tap on her cheek gently and point excitedly until she made a comment on it, most of which were vague or amused in tone. It didn't take much to excite the little Capuchin, but she still paid attention to everything which got him excited.

She looked up at the resort and smiled. "It is quite beautiful," she said. "Remind me to cancel my reservation and to use the credits to buy us a meal or two since you are offering to share your room with me."

Aidan grinned. “I’ll remind you to cancel your reservations, but there is no need for you to buy us meal. Unless you really want to, they are your credits after all. As far as the room goes, I couldn’t let you stay out there being afraid. That just wouldn’t do.”

Mila smiled. "Ah, but I insist," she said. "You were a gentleman in offering me your bed. It is the least that I can do."

Aidan smiled and nodded, “Then I look forward to it, Mila. When the two, or three as it were, came up to the doors, Aidan allowed Mila and Chow to go through. “After you,” he said.

She smiled and entered with Chow and looked around. "This place is very nice," she said.

They went into the main lobby as a breeze came around the corner. Once inside, the clerk checked Aidan’s reservation and gave him directions. To get to his room, 165, he would need to turn right as he exited and walk down the path lined with yellow bushes. The exuberant clerk also informed them of the A la Carte waterfront dining, live entertainment, and cocktail parties.

Aidan looked over at Mila and said, “Live entertainment, there are your musicians.”

"So it would seem," Mila said. "Although I would prefer to present a song to a private audience first for all that you have done for me. Perhaps the computers here have music which would give me some inspiration?" Chow looked around and hooted, then jumped down from her shoulder to walk between her and Aidan.

Aidan looked at the clerk. “Music on the computers?”

“Oh yes!” he said. “You can access many different types of music from the computer console in your room. We have recently received some new data files from the Alpha Quadrant. I’m sure you’ll find some to your liking. Is there anything else you need?”

Aidan turned, “Mila, is there anything you need or want?”

"Only access to a comm so I may cancel my reservation at the other place," she said. "I have all that I need for myself and Chow other than that."

“Oh,” replied the clerk, “there’s one in your room.”

“Okay, thank you,” Aidan said to the man. He turned to Mila, “Shall we go see the room? And get your reservation cancelled?”

"Thank you," Mila told the clerk as well before she looked up at Aidan. "I would like that," she said with a smile. She glanced at the clerk once more. "My pet, Chow, is fully house broken and has had all of his shots, and will not be a problem."

“Thank you,” replied the clerk, “but he is just fine. He may even make a few new friends while he’s here. The trees are full of birds and animals similar to him. Enjoy your stay with us. And if there is anything I can do to make it more pleasurable, please let me know.”

“Thank you, we will,” replied Aidan. He looked down at Chow, “Ready to go, little guy?”

Chow gave a hoot as Mila thanked the clerk once again and she looked at Aidan. "Shall we see where we will be the next several days?"

He smiled. “Let’s go,” he said. The trio left the lobby and followed the path lined with yellow bushes. The room wasn’t really as far away as Aidan thought. But it was still a nice distance so as not to get that much foot traffic. Aidan allowed Mila and Chow in first. “So what do we have in there?” he called, out shouldering his pack and getting a better grip on Mila’s bag.

Mila entered with Chow and her jaw dropped at how big and nice the place looked. "I see that they truly mean a la carte the way this is," she managed.

The room had been decorated in pleasing tones which allowed the maximum amount of light in from the twin windows in the main area which gave a lovely view of the beach. A large, soft tan couch was placed between the windows with an end table on either side of it and a glass and chrome-looking coffee table sat in front of it. Across the room from that was a holovision with a guide that boasted over then thousand channels. A comfortable chair in the same tan sat beside the holovision and a small end table sat beside of it.

To the right through a doorway was a small kitchenette with replicator and breakfast nook which had a large window providing warm sunshine and plenty of light. To the left of the main room was a short hallway which had a door to the left which proved to be a rest room complete with a large tub and shower combo, sink and a cabinet which had plenty of large, soft towels and washcloths, soap, shampoo and other amenities.

Further down was a large bedroom which had two windows facing the beach with a large bed beside of them. A dresser, nightstand and a small divan was placed against the wall opposite the bed.

Aidan walked in behind them. He was surprised to see how huge the room was. “Indeed,” was all he could manage at this time. He noticed that the couch was large and appeared to be soft. It was a comfort to him because he assumed that the bedroom would be better and Mila would be more than comfortable. He put his bag down just inside the door. “I presume the bedroom is this way, then. I’ll put your bag in there and then it’s all yours.” Aidan took it in. “I still can’t believe how huge this room is.”

Mila came back from the bedroom with Chow a moment later. "This place is bigger than I expected," she said. "There is even a divan in the bedroom. I've never seen one before like that." She looked up at him. "Why, we could share it and never touch it's so big."

Aidan laughed. “Yes, we could, it’s that huge. You know, they have really done a bang-up job.” He looked down at Chow. “What do you think? To your liking?

Chow gave a hoot, then did a somersault flip before he ran and jumped on the back of the couch to stretch out on his back in the sunlight.

"I would definitely say that he approves," Mila said with a laugh. "He doesn't get real sunshine often and I doubt we'll be able to move him much while the sun is up. So...do we share?"

He looked and nodded. “Yes, that definitely looks like approval. I’m glad that I could help him get some real sunshine.” Then he turned to look Mila straight in her big brown eyes, well, hazel. “We are already sharing the room, milady. Are you talking about the divan or the bedroom?” he asked, smirking.

"The divan is in the bedroom, Aidan," she said with a smile. "I would trust you not to peek, of course."

He returned her smile. “Then we can share. And, of course, I would not peek, Mila.”

"Good, because I would not wish to have Chow go nuts on you," Mila said with a laugh. "He is a fierce protector." Who, at that moment was passed out in the sunlight.

Aidan looked at the sleeping simian. “I’d bet he is, that little stinker.” Turning back to Mila, he said, “I would not want him to go nuts on me, either. I can’t imagine what those little paws could do. Let me just get my pack from the couch and put it in the bedroom. Then we can decide what we’d like to do next.” Aidan picked up his pack and headed to bedroom.

"While you do that, I will call and cancel my reservation," Mila said as she headed for the comm system in the living room. "And you may have the bed. After that, a nice dinner is in order for both of us, and perhaps some singing if you are lucky."

Partway down the hall, Aidan stopped momentarily. The bed? I don’t think so, little one. That is yours. Continuing to the bedroom, he called out, “Dinner it is then. And I hope I’m lucky enough to hear the singing.” Aidan put his pack down on the divan and moved Mila’s bag to the bed.

After she made the call to cancel the reservation, she went to the replicator and requested strawberry yogurt, a dozen grapes and some pistachio nuts, all in separate bowls. Once she had that, she got a bowl of water and set them all out for Chow where he could get them easily. Finally, she headed back to the bedroom and smiled when she saw that he had put her bag on his bed. "I see that we are going to battle for the bed," she said with a grin.

He turned to see that Mila had come into the room, grinning. “I would prefer not to battle with you, but if I must.... The bed is yours, Mila. The divan is mine. End of battle.” It was now his turn to grin, widely.

"Is that so?" Mila asked as she approached him until she was in his personal space and looked up at him. "I will have you know that my family extends back to telling the Russian Czars what to do and how to best do it. Are you one to challenge history such as that?" Her Russian accent was thicker, but her eyes twinkled with amusement.

Aidan looked down at Mila standing in his personal space and grinned. Her native accent was…nice. “I had no idea of your family history. Ordering Czars around, huh?” He took a step closer to her. “I guess it is a good thing I’m not a Czar, then,” he said.

"Which means you do not stand a chance," she said with a knowing smile. "It is easier to admit defeat graciously, Aidan, then to have it handed to you."

He grinned widely once again and said, “Oh, I don’t stand a chance, do I? What if you’re wrong? What if you get handed defeat, Mila?”

"I would accept it graciously, kind sir," Mila said. "Of course, I am used to telling Captains what the best course of action is daily, so I may know a thing or two about how to escape defeat."

Aidan started laughing. “You, Mila Rasputin, are a unique young lady. But we still haven’t come to the conclusion that you will be taking that bed.”

"Will you pick me up and put me in it?" She challenged, meeting his eyes evenly while the corners of her lips twitched upwards in a smile.

Aidan stood there a moment, staring into her eyes. He saw the smile creep along her lips. He had a choice before him, one that he needed to make quickly. He could either continue their witty repartee or do as Mila stated. He opted for number two.

Without a word, Aidan reached down, picked up Mila, carried her to the bed, and gently placed her on it. “If that’s what it takes,” he said. “Satisfied?”

"Well!" Mila harrumphed. "I never!" she said indignantly but couldn't keep a smile off of her face. "You're lucky you're bigger than me, Aidan. Just you wait." She shook a finger at him. "I will find a way."

Aidan chuckled. “You asked, just remember that. But now I guess I will need to be more guarded and on the look out for abnormalities around here.” He smiled at Mila. “At least you claimed the bed. The divan is mine.”

She laughed and got up. "You are something else," she said. "You're lucky you outrank me or I'd order you to take it."

“I never thought it would payoff like that to be a Cadet,” said Aidan. “You know, we still need to get some dinner. And you still owe me a song. Which one would you like to do first?”

Mila came to her feet. "Give me a few minutes and I'll be ready for dinner," she said.

“Alright, then,” replied Aidan. “I’ll be in the main living area.” He turned and left the bedroom, closing the door behind him.

She came out a few minutes later in a form-hugging black mini dress which was tied on the sides from her waist to just below her arms and the sleeves of it were mesh with heart designs worked into it, and a pair of black kitten heels. "I am ready when you are, Aidan," she said with a smile.

Aidan had been looking out the twin windows when Mila came out. He turned and saw, well, a very different looking Mila. At that moment, the only thing the El-Aurian could manage was an ‘um' and a 'wow.' He slightly shook his head a few seconds later, realizing that he was staring. “Sorry about that. It looks like I am under-dressed. If I may have a few minutes, Mila?”

Mila gave a low chuckle a his comment. "Certainly," she said, pleased that her outfit had such an effect on him. It made her feel good and she reached up to begin untwisting her hair out of the French braid she normally wore it in while on the ship.

Aidan went back to the bedroom and returned a little while later wearing a deep purple, button-down shirt, a pair of grey slacks, and black shoes. He hadn’t brought anything more formal with him as he hadn’t expected a really nice dining out. “There,” he said, walking into the living area, “that’s better.”

She gave a whistle of appreciation when he came back out. "Very dashing, Aidan," she said as she finished giving Chow a treat and a scratch on his belly. "Did you know that purple is the color of royalty?"

Aidan smiled and tugged at his shirt collar. It had been a very long time since he had been whistled at. “Thank you, Mila. And no, I didn’t know that about purple.” It was then that he noticed her hair. “You let your hair down, very nice.”

"Thank you," Mila said as she twirled a lock of hair in her left hand. "Purple is also the color of passion."

“Is it now,” he said. Aidan was unsure if it would land him in trouble or not, but he decided to be a bit bold, maybe even flirty, with his new companion. Her whistle and last comment on purple apparently emboldened him. “And how many purple outfits do you own? Hmm?”

She gave him a coy look and smiled. "Outfits? None at the moment, but I am wearing purple now," she said.

Aidan looked her up and down, with no attempt to hide it, and saw no purple anywhere on Mila’s little black dress or heels. His gaze finally landed on Mila’s eyes. He smiled, a slight twinkle in his eye, and said, “Is it the same color purple as my shirt or will I never know?”

"Aidan!" Mila exclaimed in mock shock. "Here I thought you were a gentleman."

Aidan laughed. “Hey, you and your little black dress said that you’re wearing purple. What am I supposed to think? But if it helps, I can make it up to you sometime.”

"Perhaps a little lighter shade than your shirt," she admitted with a smile. "But if you wanted to make up, you could take the bed."

A little lighter shade, huh, he thought to himself, smiling. “So we’re going back to the bed again? You know you already claimed it when you asked me to put you in it and I did. How about I make it up with a stroll on the beach after dinner?”

"Is this where we negotiate for how you can make it up to me?" Mila asked. "Dinner is on me, but a walk on the beach...hmm...does that mean you don't want to hear me sing instead?"

“Oh, I’d love to hear you sing, Mila,” replied Aidan. “We can do that after dinner. But maybe we can do the beach tomorrow? You know after you've had a good night's sleep on that large, soft, warm bed?”

"You are not willing to let that go, are you?" She asked. "At the rate we are going, Chow will sleep in it while I sleep on sofa and you sleep on divan." It was clear by her tone that she was joking. "But I will sing you a song after dinner, then we can stroll on the beach."

“You’re too much fun, Mila,” he said. “Shall we go find a place to eat? I’m getting hungrier the longer we stand here. Besides, I can’t wait to get back here and you sing.”

"I am enjoying your company as well, Aidan," Mila said with a smile. "Oh...you don't want to share me singing with anyone else? Why, I'm beginning to think you don't wish to let me out of your sight."

“You said you wanted a private audience first. I assumed you meant me and only me,” said Aidan. “But since you brought it up, let’s hear how well you sing first. Then I will decide whether I want to share your singing with anyone else or not.”

"Then I will sing for you after dinner," she said. "After that, a walk on the beach. Is that fair?"

“That is fair; dinner, a song, and a walk on the beach,” said Aidan. He opened the door, “After you, Mila.”

With a smile, Mila walked out the door ahead of him and turned to wait for him. "Now to find a good place to eat."
