Ensign Kelly Khan dragged a large trunk with a global map of Earth on it out of the turbolift on a gravcart and a PADD laying on top of it played Lone Digger.

She sang along with lyrics as she pulled it down the hallway. "Hey, brother, what you thinking? Leave that old record spinning. You feel the rhythm, going. They call it lonely digging. Let's end your time to lay low, your knees a-bending, so it's time to get up and let go. You're gonna come undone."

The brunette moved her hips to the beat as it increased and started to swing the gravcart behind her in the same motion while continuing to sing. "Hey, mama, how's it going? Can't see your body moving? Don't leave the party dying. They call it lonely digging. Your booty shaking, you know, your head has no right to say no.
Tonight it's ready, set, go."

Kelly arrived at room zero four one five and keyed her code into it while still singing in the corridor. "Baby can you move it round the rhythm, so we can get with 'em. To the ground and get us a rock and roll round
Just a downtown body body coming with a super-hottie. Let's go, yes, no, hell no. Baby can you move it round the rhythm, 'cause you know we're living in the fast lane, speed up. It ain't no game, just turn up all the beams when I come up on the scene."

"Hey, brother, what you thinking? That good ol' sound is ringing. They don't know what they're missing. They call it lonely digging. Let's end your time to lay low. Your knees a-bending, so it's time to get up and let go!" she exclaimed as she entered her new quarters and pulled the gravcart in behind her.

The PADD continued to play as she took it off the trunk and set it aside, the music drifting out into the corridor . "Hey, brother, nice and steady. Put down your drink, you ready. It's hard when things get messy. They call it lonely digging, Your booty shaking, you know, your head has no right to say no tonight it's ready, set, go!"

"Baby can you move it round the rhythm, so we can get with 'em. To the ground and get us a rock and roll round. Just a downtown body body coming with a super-hottie. Let's go, yes, no, hell no. Kelly looked at the large trunk and wondered if the Lieutenant JG who had helped her load it onto the gravcart from the cargo bay was still around and frowned. Odds were that he wasn't and she would have to find another way to get the heavy trunk off of it. She shrugged and started to head back out the door while thinking of ways to get it off the cart.

Lucas stepped out into the hallway when he heard the music and looked around, spotting a young woman coming his way. He'd been sitting on his couch going over some files of patients that were still in sickbay after everything that happened as of late. Some were still in bad shape, and others were in need of physical therapy for pretty traumatic injuries. No matter what they required to get back on their feet, he... along with everyone else in Medical, would see to it that each and every person got it.

"I don't remember seeing you around these parts," he commented, wondering if she'd be able to hear him over the music and her own singing. Unable to help himself, his crooked smile appeared.

Kelly gave a start at the voice and turned to see a very broad chest in her field of vision. While she was vertically-challenged, she was still used to at least seeing a neck somewhere in the vicinity of a chest, but the one in front of her seemed to go from horizon to horizon. She took a step back and then another before she angled her head back and looked up. "Sweet jumping jackrabbit!" she said, startled at the size of the specimen of manhood that stood in the hallway. "You're huge!"

"Thank you for noticing," he said with another smile, gesturing to the cart that had a trunk on top of it. "Are you just moving in?"

The short brunette blushed at his retort to her observation and quickly nodded before she offered her hand. "Ensign Kelly Khan," she said. "I just got promoted recently and moving up in the world. Or the ship as the case may be. I had someone in the cargo bay load my trunk for me, but I don't think I can get it off without damaging it. Would you help me, please?"

The large man moved over to the trunk and lifted it as if it weighed nothing. "Sure, I'll help you out. Just get the door open for me," he said, gesturing toward it with his head. This wasn't the first time he'd ever been asked to do heavy lifting, and he doubted it would be the last. "Congratulations on your recent promotion, too. I'm Lieutenant Lucas Abrams, or Doctor Abrams depending on who you ask."

"Thank you, Lieutenant Doctor Abrams," Kelly said with a smile. "Could you just set it down there?" she asked as she pointed to beside the coffee table nearby. "I can move it around once it's on the floor, but it's just too heavy for me to get on and off the cart.

He carried the trunk inside and set it down next to the coffee table where indicated. "Do you have anything else you need moved, or can you get the rest of it?" he asked.

Once it was down, she went to the trunk and popped the lid. Inside were countless candy bars, sorted by type and she pulled one from the very top and handed it to him. "Have some gold pressed latinum," she said. "It's better than the real thing."

"Thank you, but I'm okay. I try not to eat sweets when I can help it," Luc said.

"Aww...one wouldn't hurt, would it?" Kelly said and looked sad. "You could give it to your significant other if you have one or a patient if you don't want it for yourself. That trunk is really heavy and you didn't have to lift it for me. I'd feel bad if I couldn't do something for your help."

"I don't have a significant other, but I'll take one to find a new home for it," he said with another smile as he reached in to take one. "As for helping you, I did that because I wanted to, so there was no need to give me anything in return. However, it's appreciated. Thank you."

The PADD started to play another song, but Kelly moved over to turn it off. "I promise not to play music too loud," she said. "I like to listen to it loud, but I know not everyone has the same shift I do. I'm on Gamma right now, I think, but I may be moving to Alpha again when the away mission starts. I'm in Flight and the Chief is going on the mission, so I'm next on the list to take the helm."

"I normally work Beta, but lately I've been going in when they need me. We've got some patients that will be staying with us for a while, and a few of them are mine," he said. "Our CMO is going to be going on the mission as well, so this should be interesting. Since we don't have an Assistant CMO presently, she hasn't appointed anyone to act in her absence, but if I were to be a gambling man, I'd bet on Road."

"I heard," Kelly said. "About the patients, that is." She paused and tried to remember the name of one of them before it came to her. "Is Ensign Mitchell still there?" She asked. "She was on the Chimera with me and got hurt. She was one of the first to be transferred back here."

Lucas nodded. "Yes, she's still there. Ensign Mitchell will have to undergo physical therapy for a bit before she'll be able to be released. She was supposed to have a roommate, but that hasn't happened yet. She's been lonely and bored, but last I heard she was given a PADD loaded with some music and games to help keep her occupied."

"That's sad," she said. "No one should have to be alone in Sickbay. My roommate, well, former roommate now, Cadet Elisha Cherno is there, too. She hit her head on something and got partial amnesia during the battle in the nebula. She seems to have forgotten the past few months and I don't know if she's going to be graduating with the other cadets now or not. Have you heard anything about her status?"

"There hasn't been much change, really, but the name... I think she's the one who's supposed to room with Ensign Mitchell," he said.

"Thanks, Doc," Kelly said with a smile. "I think I'll go and pay her a visit. Is there anything about her that would help me to cheer her up?"

"Based on the size and weight of your candy trunk, I'd go with something from in there. It cheers a lot of people up," Lucas replied.

Kelly looked at the trunkload of goodies that contained over three hundred candy bars and knew she could spare some to cheer someone up. "I can do that," she said. "Thanks again for helping me move it, Doc. I promise to not use you as sheer muscle anymore, too."

"You're welcome, Ensign Khan, and if you need my help again, don't hesitate to ask. We are neighbors after all," he commented with a smile. "I don't mind helping you out if you need it."

"Kelly," she said. "I'm not on duty and anyone who helps me as much as you have has earned the right to call me by my name, Doc. I'm not one to hold to formalities when off the clock because we do enough when we're on duty."

"Then you can call me Lucas," the Behemoth said, smiling down at her again. Since he was off duty, he was dressed casually in a pair of black lounge pants, a white tank top and a pair of white socks on his feet. It was time for comfort, and the only thing that resembled anything close to his uniform was the combadge he wore on his shirt. That was the one thing he never went anywhere without.

"That's a nice name, Lucas," Kelly said. "You're certainly one of the biggest and nicest doctor's I ever met, barring one that I met when I first started Academy. He was a counselor, though, but he brought me chocolate to our sessions before he got assigned to another ship. Do you bring gifts to your patients?"

"I have in the past," he answered. "Maybe that's a habit I need to start getting back into. It does seem to brighten up their day a bit."

"It's better than a clinical report and a list of things they can't do," Kelly said as she remembered the time she had spent in Sickbay when she had first joined Starfleet. "I had a doctor once who was so clinical that I kept looking for pointed ears and she wasn't Vulcan."

"That sounds pleasant," the tall man said rather sarcastically. "In order to be a good doctor, you need to be able to express some kind of emotion and be able to sympathize with your patients. It's hard to detach from some cases. I think you're right, though. Maybe tomorrow I'll start bringing in little gifts to cheer people up."

"I would suggest something I heard about when I was in the Academy," Kelly said. "They were cute little figurines that a cadet was selling called Adorkables. They had different animal babies and different species being cute and they brought a smile to almost anyone who got one. They were really easy to replicate, too."

"I'll have to look into that," Luc said, committing the name of the little critters she mentioned to memory. "Thank you for the suggestion. I'm sure I can come up with things to get for our patients, too."

"A smile goes a long way and a moment to stop in and just say hi to them to pass a few minutes of a day," Kelly said. "I had a cadet stop in to see me and she ended up becoming my girlfriend."

"I don't need a harem of women, though," Lucas said with a laugh. He imagined what that would be like and shook his head. "I always smile at my patients. You never know what a simple gesture like that does for them."

Kelly laughed. "No one needs a harm, Lucas," she said. "You have a nice smile and a good laugh. I bet your patients have fast recovery time."

"Some of them, but others aren't as lucky," he stated. "And thank you, Kelly. I appreciate that."

"You're welcome," she told him. "As for the ones who aren't so lucky, they're lucky that they had you to take care of them while they were here."

Lucas smiled again. "Thank you again, Kelly. I'll let you get to unpacking now. If you need me, remember I'm right next door. Welcome to deck four, too. I'll be seeing you around soon, I'm sure." He gave another smile and made his way to the door.

"Okay," Kelly said. "If my music gets too loud for ya, just hammer on the wall or something. I'll turn it down. Thanks again, Lucas." With that, she headed out to get more of her things.
