Click Three Times
Location: Lounge
Timeline: MD 11 || 0630 Hours
Mila left the mess hall with a covered container of her breakfast when she saw that the place was nearly full and there were a few people that she didn't want to talk to in the enlisted mess before she had her breakfast and a few cups of coffee in her. She had did enough talking and moving around during the computer reboot and restoration and still had yet to see Aidan for breakfast. That weighed on her mind a bit and she reminded herself to remember to try to schedule a time when she could simply sit down with him and enjoy his company.
A few minutes of wandering around later, she found herself headed down the corridor to the lounge and decided it would be as good a place to eat as any. She was still trying to decide if she should eat alone when the tall figure of an athletically built woman caught her attention and she looked up. "Joey!" she called out to get her attention as she moved to intercept her sestra.
Joey stopped when she heard someone call her name, then smiled when she saw Mila making her way toward her. She turned and closed the distance between then, still looking exhausted, but at least she'd taken the time to have her mouth healed. Now, she was grateful for that, too. As protective as the shorter brunette was, someone's head would have rolled, and he happened to be sitting in the brig with no chance to escape.
"Mila! Good morning," she said, coming to a stop next to her. "Where are you off to this morning?"
"I am to be having breakfast," Mila responded with a smile. She looked tired, but not as tired as her tall sestra. "Enlisted mess hall is full and I was thinking that lounge would be good place to eat. Are you having breakfast yet?"
"No, and I'm starving. As a matter of fact, I'm on my way to grab something now. I haven't eaten since Harvey and I had chicken sandwiches, and that was the night before last. Come with me, then we can go to the lounge together," the taller brunette offered.
"You did not eat entire time you were on away mission?" Mila asked with a scowl. "You are to be ashamed of yourself, Joey. Come. Let us get you filled up and you are to be filling me in while you are doing same with yourself."
"It's not that I didn't want to... it's that there wasn't any time," Joey answered rather sheepishly. Why she just told Mila that, she'd never know. The shorter brunette had a nurturing streak a mile wide, and a temper to match. "I'm going to remedy that right now, though, so you don't have to be mad at me. I'm even going to stop by the Captain's mess and have breakfast sent to Harvey. I'll send him a little note with it."
She made her way into the officer's mess with Mila, not really caring if anyone looked their way and ordered her breakfast to go. What was funny... she ordered enough food to feed two people and didn't care that she'd gotten an odd look when she finally finished. Who knew pancakes, two sunnyside up eggs, biscuits with gravy, loaded hashbrowns, sausage, bacon and fresh fruit was such a huge deal? Joey wasn't kidding when she said she was starving. "I'll fill you in on whatever you want to know once we get where we're going," she said, making herself a cup of coffee while she waited for her food to be done.
"You are saying there was no time in four hours it took you to be getting there or time on way back to eat something?" Mila asked as she went into the officers mess with Joey. A few officers gave her a nod of recognition when they saw who she was, but no one objected. "I am looking forward to this, but I am thinking is not so simple."
"This away mission had me nervous for a number of reasons," the taller woman stated, taking a sip of her coffee once she had it the way she liked it. "Not knowing what we were in for that took my appetite on the way there. The way back was no different, plus there was no replicator."
"Someone is stealing replicator while you were being on station?" Mila asked in disbelief. "Why was not someone left on runabout so such thing is not happening?"
Joey shook her head. "No one stole it. It was used as payment for information."
She blinked. "But was not goods put on runabout for just such thing?" the shorter brunette asked.
"Yes, but in this instance, none of those sufficed," Joey replied, grabbing her food when it was done. "I needed the guy to talk, and he said he had a family to feed, so I did what I had to do. Of course, my original intent wasn't for the replicator to stay behind, but some things happened on Razmena that I hope to forget one day. At any rate, I don't think it's that big a deal considering the Confederation is in possession of an entire Federation starship. They're getting schematics on more than a simple food replicator."
Mila thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Da, you are right," she said after a moment. "And more than just technology."
"Exactly," the taller woman said gesturing for Mila to head out with her. "I have one more stop, then we can go to the lounge. I want to make sure Harvey has breakfast this morning. He hasn't been eating much, either. This will change soon enough." She tucked the PADD she'd had with her under her arm to make carrying everything else easier.
"I am forgetting to have meals sent to him as well," Mila admitted. "I have not even had time to organize PADDs for him this morning after computer has been restored. He will be having my head on platter."
Joey shook her head. "He won't. He knows about the computer and everything that's been going on lately. We're going to be playing catch up on some things, but its no one's fault," she said as they made their way to the Captain's mess. Once there, she made sure to have a breakfast just as big as hers along with a pot of coffee sent to Harvey. She'd send him a little note once she and Mila were settled. "Now that that's out of the way, let's go eat."
Mila made double sure that the Bolian chef understood that if the Captain did not get his fresh coffee for the morning from the remaining supplies that he would get even less on his next requisition. After that, she headed to the lounge with Joey and was pleased to see that very few people were there that morning. She picked a seat by the window and sat down.
She opened the container to reveal half a dozen potato pancakes stuffed with meat piroshki filling, a bowl of blueberries and cream, a bowl of porridge and a red bell pepper cut in half with egg cooked inside of it and covered in parmesan cheese. In another section of the container was a cup of steaming Russian tea with a small bowl of jam beside of it.
"Now...now we are to be powering are own warp cores with what they are needing," she said.
The taller woman settled down with her own food, but quickly sent a message to Harvey with the basic 'Have a good day and enjoy your breakfast. I'll see you a little later. - Joey' After sending it, she turned her attention back to her companion. "Things will get back to some kind of normal sooner or later. We can't keep running like we have been."
"We are going to be having no choice if we are not getting repairs done to ship soon," Mila pointed out as she cut into her stuffed potato pancakes and took a bite.
"We'll get the repairs we need, but first, we need to get our people back and get to our universe again. We're one step closer to doing just that now that we have a location. That's all thanks to the bastard that threatened to kill me just to get what he wanted out of Harvey. I'm still alive, and said bastard is currently in our brig," Joey said, taking a bite of her own food. If she thought she was starving before, it got worse the second she actually out food into her mouth.
"What? Who was threatening to kill you and how was Harvey being involved?" Mila asked with wide eyes as she reached for a spoon of cream for her berries. She took a bite, then stirred the jam into the tea and took a sip while she waited for Joey to respond.
Joey sighed, but she filled Mila in on what happened on Razmena. The reports would make their way across her desk at some point. "We made it out of the situation relatively unharmed, though... I did get punched in the mouth at one point for having a smart mouth," she said, taking another bite of the food in front of her. "I did end up with another tattoo, too. It glows. The artist is where we were able to get our information from."
Mila listened while working on her breakfast, making an occasional comment or asking for clarification on something and even laughed when she got to the part of Ricardo and the Founder. "Wait...you are having tattoo? Where is it being?"
"Here," Joey said, gesturing to her upper ribcage on her left side. "It's a sea turtle. I'll show it to you when we're not in public. Harvey sat with me while I got it done."
"Not in public?" Mila asked as she reached to cut up the bell pepper and eggs. "Is he only one to be seeing it so far?"
Joey shook her head. "Miller and Gutierrez have seen it, too. They were there when it was being done, too."
"I am betting that he was not liking that," Mila said after taking a bite of her eggs and pepper, then reached for her tea.
Joey took another bite of her own food, then followed it with a sip of coffee. "I couldn't really see him, so that's something you would have to ask him."
Mila laughed. "Nyet, not in thousand lifetimes," she said as she reached for her stuffed potato pancakes again. "I am not seeing him giving me honest answer even if I did. He is good man, but he is also very private man."
The taller woman laughed for a moment before she nodded her head. "He is a private man, but I think that comes from years of being on his own. He's coming a long way, and I'm so proud of him."
"I am only just getting to know him, but he is coming long way and I am happy to see him being with smile on his face," Mila said after eating some blueberries. "What is next on plans for you and he?"
"Well... to that I can't really say considering everything that's been going on lately, but we do plan to eventually get back to Earth and spend a little time on the beach," Joey replied.
"Bah," the Russian brunette said and waved a free hand dismissively. "You are needing something to take his mind off of now. Things are being tight and supplies are low, but I am thinking simple is best. Are you being able to sing or play instrument?"
"Yes to both, though, I've never really done either in front of anyone before. That doesn't mean I won't, though," the taller brunette replied as she continued eating. "Maybe I can figure something out. I don't think anything is going to relax him until we have the rest of our people back and are on our way home."
"I am being singer and I am thinking that Lieutenant Di Pasquale is being violinist," Mila said. "There are other musicians on board, also. I say we are to be putting on concert once we have everyone."
Joey ate more of her food. "I'm sure we can work something out. We don't really have a lot of time for it presently, though, but when things settled we can get started on making it happen. As a matter of fact, I need to hussle. I've got so much to do, but I had to eat something before my stomach ate itself."
"I have noticed that we at warp," Mila said as she took another sip of her tea. "Is it matter of security to ask where we are off to in such a hurry?"
"Not really. We have a possible location where the Cochrane and our people are being held. We're heading there now," Joey replied. "I need to get back to Security as soon as I'm done here and get some things set in motion."
Mila spent a minute devouring more of her potato pancakes and took a drink of tea before she responded. "Eat first," she said. "Half full belly and rushing around is leading to bad things."
"I plan to finish eating, and I hope Harvey is doing the same. Sadly, I have no way of knowing if he is or not," she said, finishing off a little more of her food. "Don't you have to bring him reports this morning, or did the computer being down cause trouble with that?"
"Nyet," Mila said. "Reports are always going no matter what state ship is in. I am having stack of PADDs to give him as well as organize PADDs that Lieutenant Di Pasquale is leaving for him. She is having no organizational skill at all and is taking me hour to sort them all out."
"You can chalk that up to the fact that she's new to the whole Executive Officer thing. It's my understanding she's fairly new to her Chief of Security role, too, but she's gotten settled into that role nicely. If she had more time as the XO, she'd have that down in no time, too," Joey stated as she finished off a little more of her food. "Since you have to see him to give him reports, will you make sure he ate for me?"
"Da, I will be doing so after we are finished here," Mila promised. "As for Lieutenant Di Pasquale, she was being thrown in at deep end almost as soon as she was on board ship. I am thinking she has not really had time to fully settle in, but she is doing good job just as you are doing good job as Chief of Security now." She finished her blueberries and last stuffed pancake.
"Thanks, Mila. I appreciate it," the taller woman said as she finished up. "Camila is a good woman who's running herself into the ground because the man she loves has been captured. We need to get them back, and now that I'm done eating, I need to get busy. I feel guilty enough for eating."
"You are needing to eat so you are able to keep going," Mila pointed out as she finished her breakfast. "Now go and together, we will be getting everyone back. I will ensure that Harvey is eating, also."
Joey gathered everything up to take it to the recycler, then looked at Mila. "Thank you. I appreciate that a lot. I'll be in touch as soon as I can be." With that, she rose to her feet and pressed a kiss to the top of Mila's head before she made her way out.
Mila smiled. "I will be seeing you then, sestra," the Russian woman said as she stood and took her things to the recycler before she headed out to organize a stack of PADDs and get them ready for the Captain.
