Sestras and Boyfriends

5,838 words; about a 29 minute read

Mission: Click Three Times
Location: Lounge
Timeline: MD 8 || 1300 Hours

Once Alpha Shift was over, Mila headed back to her quarters to shuck her uniform and took a sonic shower to get the non-existent grime off of her. Once she felt clean, she got out and chose a lavender dress and put her hair up in a bun before she chose a pair of heels to go with the dress. Satisfied, she went to her terminal and typed out a quick message to Joey and Aidan.

"I would be most honored if you are to be joining me at lounge for late lunch. - Mila" and sent one to each of them. After it was sent, the Russian Yeoman got up and fed Chow, then secured her quarters on deck thirteen and headed to deck six where she entered the lounge and waited for them to appear.

Joey sat in her office looking over personnel files. It wasn't all that longi ago that she'd been temporarily promoted to the Chief of Security, and with that duty came long hours. She looked to her terminal when it beeped and checked the message that came through. It was from Mila. A smile formed on her face as she rose to her feet, placing the PADD she held in her hand on her desk. She could definitely afford to take a few minutes away, and if anything major came up, then she was only a combadge away.

Smoothing a hand over her uniform, the tall brunette made her way out of her office. It would be nice to get away, and what was even better was that she was going to get to see her adopted little big sister. It didn't take long before she arrived in the lounge, or to spot Mila. The smile on her face broke into a grin as she made her way toward the Russian woman. "Hey. I wasn't expecting your message, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise."

Aidan had gotten back to his quarters and had showered the day's work off. He was just about to put on some music and relax in something comfortable, when the terminal in the main room beeped. He let it go on while he pulled on a pair of shorts. After getting out there, he activated the screen and found it to be a message from Mila. He smiled as he saw that the love of his life had invited him to lunch in the lounge. The El-Aurian decided to put on something casual, yet still nice for his Printsessa. Aidan then left the quarters and headed for the lounge.

Mila smiled and came to her feet when she saw Joey approaching her. "Joey!" she said happily as she met her halfway and gave her a hug. "I am having big surprise for you today. Please, come and have seat. Why are you still in uniform when is after Alpha shift?"

Joey returned the hug. "I've been appointed acting Chief of Security for the time being, so my new hours don't really fall under any set shift. Not only that, but I'm currently preparing for an away mission. Security's job is never done, but I can't complain. I love what I do." she said as she moved to the table Mila chose, then settled down. "You have a big surprise for me, hm? You certainly are full of those, aren't you? And for the record... that's definitely not a bad thing."

"Congratulations!" Mila exclaimed, then gave her a sly look. "Me? I am being innocent. What am I to having in way of surprise that I would be hiding from you?" She looked past Joey and smiled when she saw the tall, handsome El-Aurian that was the love of her life and her smile got even brighter.

Aidan entered the room and ran his left hand through his hair before putting it in his pocket. He slowly looked around the room. After a few seconds, his gaze came to rest on Mila. He smiled when he saw her and began walking towards...them. There was another woman with her. He thought that was rather odd, but brushed it aside as he approached the table.

"Mila, good to see you again," he said, deciding to keep it somewhat upscale in the presence of company.

"Aidan," Mila said with a smile as she looked at him, then at Joey. "I would like you to meet my adopted sestra, Joey Corwin. Joey, this is my boyfriend, Aidan Crehan."

Joey smiled and rose to her feet, extending her hand in his direction. "Aidan... it's nice to finally meet you. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever actually going to happen."

Aidan took Joey's hand and shook it. "A pleasure, Joey. It is nice to meet you as well. I take it that you received a lunch invitation as well?"

Joey smiled and shook Aidan's hand before lowering her own back down to her side. "I did. It seems that Miss Rasputin has devised this plan so that you and I could finally meet. I have to say, Mila... you're quite sneaky, but I'm not even the least bit upset about this. I'm not sure how long I'm going to be able to stay, though, but I will stay as long as I can."

Mila gave a delighted laugh. "I have been very busy and with ship and crew in bad shape, it was being very hard to find time where I am able to be having both of you in one place," she said. "I was thinking that you both would soon say that I was to be making fib about others existence, da? Come, let us eat, drink and get to be knowing about each other." With that, she guided them back to the table she had picked out.

"I didn't think you made Mister Crehan up, but the thought of picking on you about it did cross my mind a time or two," Joey said with a grin as she followed Mila toward the table she'd chosen. Once there, she settled down on one of the chairs and crossed her legs. "Things have been rather hectic, so I understand why we weren't able to do this before now. Things are still that way, but sadly our hands are a bit tied due to circumstances beyond out control."

Aidan chuckled at their conversation. "I am most certainly not a figment of anyone's imagination. But yes, it has been very busy on the ship as of late." He followed Mila's leading to the table. Taking a seat next to her, he leaned over and kissed her cheek. Yes, he had wanted to keep it somewhat upscale in the presence of company, but they were off duty and she was his girlfriend. Though in his mind, the simple introduction of a small kiss on the cheek really was still keeping it proper with company. "So, I take it you two have become close friends, Joey? Oh, my apologies. Would you prefer rank and surname as you are still in uniform?" he asked.

"Joey is fine," she answered with a smile. "Mila and I have become pretty close. As strange as it is, it feels like I've known her all my life. That kind of thing doesn't happen often, but it does happen."

Mila smiled when Aidan kissed her cheek and reached for his hand. "I am feeling same way about Aidan," she said. "Aidan, Joey is my sestra...sister...now and I am asking that you are treating her in same way that you are treating me. She is very good woman and is worth getting to know."

Holding Mila's hand, he looked to her and smiled. "Thank you," he said. He then turned Joey, and gently squeezing Mila's hand, said, "I could say the same thing about her, too. So, treat you in the same way I treat Mila," Aidan visibly relaxed, "then let us get to know one another. But if it is okay with you two ladies, let us put our order in first. It can be cooking as we talk."

"That is sounding like great idea," Mila said and looked at Joey. "Are you having time to eat with us, Joey?"

"I look forward to getting to know you, Aidan," the taller woman said with a smile before looking toward Mila. "I have a little time to spare before I have to get back to Security. Thank you for the invite, too."

Aidan looked around for the wait staff and waved a young woman over. "I think we'll go ahead and order." He looked to Mila. "As our hostess, how about you go first."

"I am thinking of sausage with white gravy over biscuits and two eggs, over easy," Mila ordered. "And da, I am knowing that is breakfast, but it is what I am wanting."

Aidan grinned, "Whatever you want." He then turned to Joey. "And what would you like, Joey?"

The tall brunette looked thoughtful for a moment, then turned her attention to their server. She really didn't know what she wanted, but what Mila ordered sounded really good. "I think I'll have what Mila is having. For some reason, it just sounds like it would hit the spot. I'd like to add hashbrowns to mine, though." she said. "Thank you. Aidan... you're up."

"Thank you," he said, taking a deep breath. "I suppose I'll have a cheeseburger, mild cheddar, and some sweet potato fries, sea salt please. Oh, and a water to drink." He watched as their server walked away. "Now as far getting to know one another, who wants to go first?"

Mila smiled. "I met Aidan when we stopped at Yolvanda II," she said. "I was expecting to just get a few things at market and come back to ship when I am meeting tall, handsome man who is waiting on shuttle. It is biggest moment of my life, but I was not knowing it at time. We spent entire time together there and when we are coming back to ship, we are staying together as couple." She gave a warm, loving look at Aidan. "He is being my Sir Medovik."

Joey couldn't help but smile. She didn't consider herself to be a romantic, but lately she was turning a new leaf. Maybe it was because of Harvey and the new emotions he was awakening inside of her. Just thinking about him gave her butterflies in her stomach, and whenever she was near him... she still couldn't find the words to truly explain things. Maybe in time those words would finally come to her. For now, she planned to relish in the moments they had together.

"Sounds like a whirlwind romance," the brunette said, offering her two lunch companions a smile. It was pretty obvious to her they were in love, and she found herself hoping that would happen for her some day. That definitely wasn't something she planned on rushing, though. What she had with her guy was exactly what she needed. "I'm very happy for the both of you, and I hope that the two of have many many years of happiness together."

Aidan could feel Mila looking up at him. He returned her look with a smile and a wink. "And she is my Printsessa. But as far as the romance, it still feels like a whirlwind. And I hope it never stops feeling like that. Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to many more years of it as well. So, Joey, tell me how you and Mila met?"

Joey grinned. Oh, this was definitely a good story, and she couldn't wait to share it. "Well... we officially met when I showed up at her quarters one night on a mission. I wanted to prank the Captain, and needed the help of the one person on the ship who has more access to him than his current girlfriend does. Anyway... I got there and we started hashing out a plan. Turned out three hundred balloons were placed into his quarters, then an impromptu water gun fight took place. Ever since then, we've become the best of friends. Sisters, in fact." she said with a grin. "He was a good sport about it all, and I'm currently thinking of ways to get him again."

Mila laughed. "Are you remember the pieces of blue material that I am having in my quarters, Aidan?" she asked. "That was leftovers from balloon fight. We are popping them all after fight and throwing them at each other. Each of us were saving them as memento of occasion and I am having Squad Assault water gun from battle, still. The USS Harvey was out numbered that day."

"I do remember seeing them, Mila," Aidan replied. "I had wondered what they were from. But a balloon fight and then a water gun fight? With the Captain?" Aidan was amazed to say the least. "I am surprised. I never would have figured Captain Geisler for that sort of man. The kind to enjoy a prank such as that and then revel in the resulting fun. He seems so serious all of the time. But then, he's the Captain of a ship."

"He's not serious all the time," Joey commented. She smiled at the thought of him, and those all too familiar butterflies began to form in her stomach. Even though he wasn't present, her heart rate increased a bit. She cleared her throat and blushed a bit. "In fact, he's starting to come out of his shell quite a bit. I'd say he's been making amazing progress, too."

"Da," Mila agreed as their food showed up. "He is to be good man and I am not wishing to see same man I am first meeting upon coming aboard. I would hate to break good PADD upside bad head. Would not be pleasant. As for prank, he was not expecting it, but was good sport about it and attempted to turn tide valiantly."

"He's a good sport about a lot of things. I'm teaching him how to surf, hula and we started brushing up on his hand-to-hand combat this morning. I eventually want to get him into mixed martial arts among a few other things, but there's time for all of that," the tall brunette said, shifting around a little bit. "We'll see what he's comfortable with. I don't want to force too much on him at one time."

Aidan wasn't naive beyond any measure of the word. Besides, two hundred years had already taught him a lot; like what a slight blush usually meant. Two hundred years had also taught him some manners regarding such things. "Surfing and hula are quite a bit different than hand-to-hand combat and mixed martial arts. Adding that to the prank, it sounds like you two are trying to make him a more rounded person. Or at the very least, get him out of his shell as you pointed out earlier, Joey." Aidan could smell the aroma of the mild cheddar mixing that of the cooked beef. It smelled delicious.

"You were not telling me that, Joey," Mila gently chastised as she reached for her fork and began to cut her biscuits and gravy up. "I am wishing that you are having video of Captain hula humping or surfing. Would make for good memories, da?"

Aidan nearly choked on a sweet potato fry and quickly grabbed his glass of water, looking to Joey. After a couple swallows, he put his hand under the table and rested it on her knee. "My dear," he said, "I believe the word you were searching for is hula hooping. And yes, I'm certain that it would have made for great memories, would it not have, Joey?"

"Hula hum...." Joey laughed. "Hooping, honey. As far as the memories go, we're making a lot of those, and we'll be making more as time progresses. Maybe we can capture some of them to have for keepsakes. I'm definitely not opposed to the idea. I'll have to look into getting a holo-imager from Operations."

Mila blushed, then laughed at her faux pas. "I am begging forgiveness," she said. "Hula hooping is not being something I am very familiar with. Still, would be good to be seeing special occasions with Harvey having fun. He is needing it." She took a bite of her food, chewed and swallowed it before taking a drink of her juice. "How is he with other things?"

"What kind of other things?" Joey found herself asking. She needed more to go off of before she started spilling details.

"Cost of dilithium on Cardassia," Mila said. "What are you thinking I am asking of? If you are wishing me to say it, then I am asking how are things going between you and Harvey on personal level."

"They're going great," the taller woman said with a bright smile. In fact, she couldn't remember ever being so happy before. "We've been spending a lot of our free time together when we have it. Is that what you were looking for, or did you want something more specific?" She couldn't help but grin.

"Nyet, is good and I am being happy for you both," Mila said as she turned her attention to her breakfast for another moment. "Oh, I am being ass and denying Aidan chance to speak. He is fantastic artist and has recently given me painting he did of me."

Joey grabbed her fork and started to cut into her food with it, then looked to Aidan. "It's not exactly a secret, but hasn't been made common knowledge yet. The Captain and I are a couple. You may have gathered that based on Mila's question and my answer."

Aidan swallowed a bite of his cheeseburger as he listened to the conversation. "The question and answer confirmed my suspicions from a moment ago, Joey. You blushed a bit after I mentioned the Captain. But congratulations. I wish you many years of getting to know one another. As for Mila," he said looking at her and smiling, "fantastic is not quite what I would say. That painting is my first attempt at using that medium. Though it was easier than I had expected." He paused to take a drink of water. "Drawing with pencil and charcoal for roughly eighty-six years has served as a good base for the transition."

"You are an excellent artist, Aidan," Mila said as she reached down to squeeze the hand he had rested on her leg with a fond smile. "What are next plans you are having for Harvey?" she asked. "Perhaps we are to be enlisting Aidan in next prank, da?"

"We can do that, though... I haven't really planned anything else as far as pranks go. You know my rules for those, too. Nothing harmful or disgusting," Joey said, taking a bite of her food. She looked thoughtful for a moment, then looked toward Aidan. "You're a painter? Do you think I could commission you to do one for me? I'd be able to supply the image, and I would be more than willing to pay you for it."

"Thank you, Mila," he said. "You are too kind. And Joey, I have just started painting. So I think you might want to see the first product. Just in case you have some reservations. And afterwards, if you are still interested, it would be my pleasure. Though, you would not need to pay me. You are Mila's friend and so, you are mine."

"That's very sweet of you, Aidan, and I truly thank you. I don't think I would have any reservations as far as your work goes, though. Mila raves about your work, and I trust her. I'd be honored if you would be willing. I'm looking for a beach scene... something that I wish to give Harvey since it would mean something to me and him. If you aren't comfortable, I completely understand," Joey said, hoping he'd agree.

"I appreciate your trust in my abilities, Joey," replied the El-Aurian. "I accept. I have not drawn too many beach scenes in pencil, but I have done a few. So I'm accustomed to the specifics. You mentioned that you would supply the image?"

"I will. It's the first place I took Harvey on the holodeck. It's a bit meaningful to both of us, and I would love for his to be able to see it whenever he wants and think of that moment," the taller woman said as she took a sip of her drink. "It was the first time he'd ever tried to surf and realized it was something he really enjoyed doing."

"Places can hold many memories," said Aidan. "And images of those places, whether paintings or something else, can bring them back." When she mentioned surfing, it brought some memories back to his mind. Not of regular surfing, but shuttle surfing...with Mila. That was the first time they kissed. He smiled as he let those memories surface. "And sometimes even words can elicit the same response."

Mila continued to eat quietly and mopped up the last of her eggs with a biscuit that had survived being drowned in sausage gravy. She was pleased to see that Aidan and Joey were getting along and that neither of them had given each other the hairy eyeball upon meeting. "Are you to be wearing bikini for painting?" she asked innocently while she gave Aidan's hand another squeeze.

"Well... I didn't actually plan on being in the painting. It seemed a bit narcissistic of me to give him something like that. I'd really like to have one done of the two of us together, but I don't have anything of us together," Joey said with a frown. She and Harvey would have to do something about that in the future.

Aidan felt Mila squeeze his hand after she mentioned 'bikini' and nearly dropped his last sweet potato fry. He looked at her and smirked. "Perhaps I should paint one of you in a bikini, Mila." He paused a second, released her hand, squeezed her knee, and then grabbed her hand again. "And Joey, when you are have something of the two of you, I'd be glad to do that one as well." He then turned back to Mila, shaking his head. "Bikini."

Joey finished up about half of her food before she wiped her mouth and took one last sip of her drink. She knew it wasn't intentional on their part, but the Security officer found herself feeling as if she were a third wheel. Not just that, but it had her missing a certain someone she wouldn't be able to see for a while. "I need to get back to work, but I thank you for the invite to lunch, Mila. It was nice to get out of the office for a little while. Aidan... it was a definite pleasure meeting you, and I'll get that image to you." She rose to her feet and stretched. "You two enjoy yourselves." With that, she turned to make her way out.

"Joey, was joke!" Mila called out when Joey got up from a half finished meal still on her plate. "Forgive me!" She came to her feet with distress written plainly on her face and nearly upset her plate in the process. Several people turned to see what the commotion was, but when they saw that it was the Captain's Yeoman, even a Lieutenant turned his attention back to his meal.

Stopping when she heard Mila, Joey turned toward her. "What are you sorry for?" she asked. "You didn't offend me, upset me or anything in between. I really do need to get back to work. You and Aidan can have a little time alone. He definitely seems like a great guy, and I'm so happy for the two of you. We'll get together for dinner soon."

"I was not inviting you here to be showing you what a great guy Aidan is," Mila said. "Not that he is not. I am inviting you here so that we are all meeting and getting to be friends. Da, you are saying you are having to be getting back to work, but you are already past Alpha shift, which is shift Chief of Security works. Anything else is being voluntary and you are leaving half of lunch in progress."

Aidan was quite caught of guard by what had just happened. He decided to let the ladies have a moment before he went over to them. And now, he felt it was time. The El-Aurian put his napkin on the table and rose, walking to where Mila and Joey were standing. "Please excuse the interruption, ladies. Joey, it has been a pleasure meeting you as well. And I would like to get to you more. You're one of Mila's friends and I'd like to think that her friends could be mine as well. Please," he held out a hand, one to each of the ladies, "return and tell me how you came to know how to surf. I have never seen it outside of shuttle surfing."

Joey was the acting Chief, and she'd seen Camila work longer hours that weren't voluntary just as hers weren't until she managed to appoint an acting Assistant Chief to take on some of the work load. She planned to handle that soon. "I can stay for a little while longer, then I do need to get back. I've got a couple meetings," she said, offering them both a smile before she made her way back to the table to retake her seat, though she was done eating.

Mila returned to the table and sat down again to reach for her glass. "Aidan is asking good question," she said. "He was trying to show me how to shuttle surf, but I ended up under water more than above it."

"I've never tried shuttle surfing before, then again, anything other than actual surfing doesn't appeal to me in the same way. My Dad put me on a surfboard basically when I could walk. That was just over twenty-seven years ago. It's one of my favorite things to do and relaxes me in ways that not much else can," Joey said, tucking a fallen lock of hair behind her ear.

Aidan went back with them to the table, glad that Joey had decided to stay longer. He pulled his chair out a little and sat down. Listening to Joey talk about growing up surfing made him wonder. "So...you were born and reared near the ocean, then?"

The taller brunette nodded her head. "Yes. Hawai'i to be exact," she replied. "My last name tells a different tale, and that's because I'm three quarters Polynesian and a quarter English. My Dad is half English, which is where Corwin comes from."

"Hawai'i," said Aidan. "That is one place I have not been on Earth. And that's an interesting background you have, Polynesian and English. Did your parents meet on Hawai'i?" he asked.

"They did. It was a whirlwind romance much like yours. They were married three months after they met, and a year later I was on my way. Thirty years later, they're still going strong and love one another as much today as they did back then," Joey replied with a bright smile. She definitely wanted what her parents had.

Mila sat back and watched her boyfriend and sestra chat and was pleased that they were getting along so well. "Three months is still being long time and you are not on ship for three weeks and already forming relationship with Harvey," she pointed out. "As for me and Aidan, it was complex dance, but he is divine dancer to have kept up and I am being very pleased."

Three months is still a long time, he thought to himself. Aidan looked over at her and smiled. "A dancer must have the right partner in order for the dance to look beautiful, my dear. And I have the best one ever. I am glad that you are pleased with my dancing, though. So, what else have you two done other than prank the Captain?" Aidan may technically have been his elder, but he was a Cadet and Harvey was a Captain. Calling the man by his first name just didn't seem proper.

"Hang out when there's been time, and there hasn't been a lot of that lately, I'm afraid. With everything that's been going on recently, and as exhausted as we've all been, no one's been able to do much else. But, given all of that, I think it's time to prank our dear Captain again," Joey said with a smile. "Maybe something... sparkly."

"What is being sparkly?" Mila asked, curious.

"Glitter, of course," Joey answered simply. "I'll handle that part, though. It's going to be a mess, and he might not be too happy about it."

Aidan laughed. "And what do you have in mind for a delivery system? The ventilation ducts in his quarters perhaps?"

"A balloon. At least with that I can keep the mess relatively contained. He's going to kill me, but it will be worth it," Joey replied. "I'm looking forward to it, though."

Mila looked thoughtful for a moment, then smiled. "Balloon is too obvious after last time," she said. "We are needing more subtle. I am thinking that delivery system needs to be in spring-loaded tube of some kind. Perhaps be telling him is ancient star map in tube so he is having to take end off to remove it?"

"That's not a bad idea, but as I said, I'm going to do this one alone. It's going to be a huge mess that I'll have to clean up, but it will be worth it," Joey stated. "Plus... the more people that are around, the more suspicious hell be. It's not that I don't want anyone else involved, I just think it would tip him off if there were more people present for it. We can do something else where we're all involved. It'll give us more time to plan." She knew payback was going to happen in the future, and she was ready for it.

"If you wish, Joey," said Aidan. "But if you would like some help in a future endeavor, I would be glad to. However, I'm not all that good at coming up with them."

"You are very inventive, Aidan," Mila said. "If you were not, you would not be such talented artist or have such wonderful repertoire."

"I think we should try to think of something together. We just need to figure out what. It can't hurt him, though," the Security officer said.

"I thank you, Mila," replied Aidan. "Coming up with something together sounds like a good idea. Each of us have our perspectives on things. And I agree, it should not hurt him. It should make him laugh."

"It should, and we have a little time to plan something. I'm still waiting for him to get me back for the last one, but the poor man's had so much on his mind lately, that I'm sure it's the farthest thing from his mind," Joey told them.

"Well, for now, I am thinking that I should probably let you get back to work," Mila said. "Perhaps you, I and Aidan can be getting together later if you are not being busy with Harvey." She looked at Aidan. "If you are being okay with it?"

Aidan turned towards Mila. "Yes, that is fine with me. At this point, I do not have anything going on later. But that's not to say it couldn't change at a moment's notice on board this ship."

"I'd like that, but as Aidan mentioned, things could change at a moments notice. Especially for me since I've been promoted to acting Chief of Security for the time being. I don't want to make steady plans and have something happen, because then I'll feel bad. Chances are, though, that I'll be with Harvey. We spend our free time together."

"Then be spending what time you can with him and I will be doing same with Aidan," Mila said. "I am certain we will meet up again soon."

"Maybe we can all meet up for dinner?" Joey suggested. "I'm just not sure what time either one of us will be officially off duty for the day."

"Dinner sounds nice," said Aidan. "Perhaps if not today, then tomorrow evening. That would allow for a bit more planning as far as being off duty."

"I'll talk to him when I see him later and let you both know, but for now, I need to get back to work. There's still a lot that needs to be done, and sadly, it seems like there aren't enough hours in a day to get them done," the taller woman said as she rose to her feet, bending down to press a kiss to Mila's cheek. "I'll be in touch, I promise. Aidan, it was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to the next time. I'll send that image to you once I get back to my office to see if you think it's doable or not."

Mila returned the kiss to Joey's cheek and smiled. "I will be seeing you later as well, Joey," she said with a smile. "Be certain of this."

Aidan rose from his seat and gently shook Joey's hand. "The pleasure was mine, Joey. I will be expecting that image, then." Aidan then looked down at Mila. She was full of surprises.

Mila came to her feet as well. "As much as I am hating to, I must be getting back to Administration myself. Captain is needing information and I am one to be getting it to him."

Joey smiled and shook his hand, then took her leave. She wanted to give them a few minutes alone before they had to depart. There were things down in Security that required her attention, and it was time for her to get back to it. Her first order of business was to contact Cooper to let her know she was going to be filling her original position temporarily.

Aidan turned to Mila. "I have some things to do as well, despite being out of uniform. I will see you tonight, my dear." He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. "Thank you for the lunch invitation and for introducing me to your sestra."

Mila smiled and returned the kiss. "You are most welcome and I am seeing you later, Sir Medovik," she said. "I love you, Aidan."

Aidan smiled at Mila. "I love you, too, Printsessa. Until then." He winked and turned to head out.
