Mission: Endgame
Location: Deck Four Corridor
Timeline: MD 12 || 1015 Hours

After tearing through the corridor like she was on fire, Joey came to a halt when she saw Richardson. Maybe a bit of clarity would be shed on events that led up to this moment, and judging by the look on her face, the acting Chief was pissed. How many personnel had her department lost since everything happened? This had to stop. Now.

"You've got a lot of explaining to do, but let's start with how you came to discover Crewman Zh'rykreq," she said, locking eyes with the man in front of her. "Where is she?"

Richardson blinked when the Lieutenant came barrelling down to where he stood with two other Security personnel outside of a maintenance room with the corridor cordoned off. "She's in here, Lieutenant," he said and sounded as if he had lost a friend. "I came to find her because we were supposed to have lunch today and the computer said she was here. I figured she was doing some work and...and when I came to check on her...I found her."

"You and I are far from through talking, so stay put," the Security Lieutenant ordered just before entering the maintenance room where Zh'rykreq's body lay. Joey first noted the angle the Andorian woman's head was in and frowned. There was a fallen ladder lying part way over her as well as supplies strewn about. All evidence pointed to an accidental death, but there was need of an investigation.

Harvey was not far behind Corwin. Along the way, he'd also contacted Lieutenant Di Pasquale. While she was the Executive Officer, having her join them would save a lot of time later having to brief her on the encounter, especially since she would be resuming her original duties as head of the department in the coming days. For now, he remained quiet and observed the situation.

"Doctor Kij," Joey called to the Trill woman still outside the room. "Can you confirm that Crewman Zh'rykreq is indeed deceased so we can begin processing everything and get her moved?" She'd seen her share of dead bodies throughout her career, but that didn't mean it was any easier to deal with. Turning on her heel, she moved over to the two other Security officers present and spoke to them quietly.

One of the officers moved over to Richardson after nodding his head at the Lieutenant. "The Lieutenant wants to speak with you. I'm your shadow until that happens."

Jayla nearly snapped that anyone should be able to tell that the Crewman was dead, but held her tongue and took a deep breath as she took out her tricorder and moved to stand beside Zh'rykreq. She did a quick scan and it was just as she had suspected; there was no sign of life. "She's been dead at least thirty minutes," she announced. " Probably more like an hour. I'll know more with an autopsy."

Camila got the message from the Captain and turned the temporary bridge over to another officer before she headed for the turbolift. "Quali sono le prospettive, Hirogeni offrendo per un matrimonio?" she asked no one as the doors closed. What's next, Hirogen offering to cater a wedding?. She exited on deck four and headed down the corridor where she saw the others had gathered and stopped when she saw the dead female Andorian on the floor. "What happened here?" she asked.

"Take a look around, Lieutenant Di Pasquale. What you see before you is what the rest of us know," Corwin stated. "We're in the process of finding out, but based on the scene, it appears to be an accidental death."

Camila didn't step into the room so she wouldn't disturb anything as she looked. "It seems like an open and shut case," she said. "Who found the body?"

"I did," Richardson said from outside the room and repeated what he had told Lieutenant Corwin only a moment before. "I didn't disturb anything before I contacted Lieutenant Corwin."

Camila looked back at Joey. "Do you want to do a crime scene analysis before we transport her to the morgue?" she asked since the Lieutenant had been in Investigations.

"Yes," Joey replied, looking toward Richardson. "Escort Mister Richardson to interrogation room one. I have some questions for him. Stay with him until I arrive." She turned once again and moved back into the maintenance room to start analyzing the scene with the help of the second officer on the scene.

The one standing next to Richardson and gestured down the corridor. "You heard the Lieutenant. Let's go."

Richardson sighed, but nodded and headed down the corridor with the other Security officer.

Captain Geisler followed them, deciding that the situation was in good enough hands for the time being. Between Lieutenants Corwin and Di Pasquale, and Doctor Kij, he was certain that he'd be updated as soon as possible.

After asking everyone else in the room to leave but her and the other Security officer present, Joey removed her tricorder and began to scan the entire area. It was easier to work around two life signs instead of five. When the task was thoroughly completed she and the other Security officer joined the small group in the corridor. "I'll know more once I've analyzed this in depth, but based on the angles of her body combined with that of an the ladder and the pattern the chemicals fell in, all signs point to an accidental fall. I'll have a full report ready in a few hours," she said, trying to keep herself calm. "Doctor Kij, I've done everything I need to. You can have her moved now. I'd like a copy of the autopsy report when it's been concluded."

"Of course," said Jayla absently. She was usually a bit vacant when she had an autopsy to perform, doubly so if it was a mysterious death. The fact that she was dealing with a lot of emotional issues right now didn't help, either, so she was extra removed from the situation. She tapped her combadge and ordered a hover gurney and white sheet from Sick Bay. The solemn confirmation came from one of the nurses- Jayla wasn't paying close enough attention to be able to tell which one- and she turned to do a more thorough examination of the body while she waited for the means to move her.

Joey moved out of the small maintenance room and looked between Harvey and Camila. "I have everything I need, so I'm going to question Richardson now. If I can't have my report in when I said I would, look for it to arrive before the end of the day," she said. Sadly, the acting Chief was a busy woman, but would somehow manage... even if it meant pulling an all nighter, which was quite possible.

"I would say delegate to your Assistant, but you were the Assistant Chief before you got put into the role," Camila said. "So if your report is a bit late, I'll understand, Lieutenant Corwin." She paused and looked at the tall brunette. "And don't push yourself. That's not an order, but a strong suggestion."

"I'll keep that in mind, Lieutenant," the taller woman said.

Camila nodded. "I'll see you then," she said and gave a sad look at the dead Andorian officer, then headed to wait for the next bad news.
